How to live it up after 60: Rekindle your hay days of fun and freedom!

Featured 11th-May-2022

Let’s start by wishing all those wonderful dads out there a ‘Happy Father’s Day’!

To start with, remember, age is just a number that only gets better by the year. And 60 is no exception. For this is the phase to sit back and relax, or better still unleash the wild side of you. After all, you’ve successfully fulfilled all your responsibilities of a father, working hard and bringing up your kids who are already charting their pathways to a brilliant future!

Having ‘been there and done that’ you now have all the time in the world to pamper yourself and relive your life to the fullest, ticking off all you could only dream of at one point of time!

But to do so, you need to reenergize your batteries, and here’s how:

Do things that help you remain positive: Don’t think like you are 60, think like you are 16! Brush away all the thoughts of negativity from your mind and get the adrenaline flowing through your veins!  Start on a new hobby or pursue an old one, travel the world, make new friends. Basically do everything that you have always wanted to!

Stay active: Walk, run, swim, hit the gym, do yoga or even join a laughter club. There’s nothing that you can’t do that you once could! Exercising daily will help you stay fit and look good while keeping your blood pressure under control!

Eat healthy: When it comes to food, quality is better than quantity! Eat fruits, vegetables, eggs and white meat like fish. In fact, eat just anything you like relish. Just ensure that you cut down on oil, sugar, salt and spices for obvious reasons. Most of all cut down the quantity of food intake. After all, a healthy you, is a happy you!

Sleep well: Try and get at least 7 to 8 hours of rest every night. This will help relieve mental stress and fatigue during the day. It also helps strengthen your heart and blood vessels.

Protect your skin: At your age, your skin is more sensitive. So, ensure that you take a warm bath and not a hot one as it can burn your skin and cause wrinkles. Use a good moisturiser and ensure that you use sunscreen when your stepping out into the open.

Keep your eyes safe: Diminished eyesight is common at your age so get your eyes checked regularly. And when you step out to soak in the sun, put on a pair of funky sunglasses. That way you’ll look good and your eyes will remain protected!

Keep yourself hydrated: Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water a day, including your favourite juices of kinds, because dehydration can cause fatigue and is the culprit of many other illnesses as well. Avoid sodas and too much caffeine though as they don’t have any health benefits as such.

Last but not the least, reduce alcohol and tobacco intake to the minimal.

Just remember, this is your 2nd innings of life! Live it to the fullest, enjoy it like a boss! 😎
