To check EPF balance, an individual must ensure that the concerned employer has activated the UAN (Universal Account Number). Because of this unique number, accessing various services such as EPF loan application, EPF balance check, and EPF funds withdrawal have become simpler.
Check Balance Through EPFO Portal:
After activation of UAN, the steps for the EPFO portal balance check mentioned below must be followed:
Login to the portal of EPFO.
Navigate to a tab stating ‘Our Services,’ and from the drop-down menu, select an option stated as ‘For Employees.’
Under the ‘Services’ option, choose an option stated as ‘Member Passbook.’
A page for login would be displayed. Input UAN and password after activation.

Send a message in the format ‘EPFOHO UAN ENG‘ to this mobile number - 7738299899.
The preferred language for SMS communication needs to be set, and for doing so, the first three characters of the preferred language must be used. This facility for checking EPF balance through SMS is available in Hindi, English, Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Gujarati Malayalam, Bengali, Telugu, and Tamil.
For example, if an individual wants updates in English, the first three characters of the word ENGLISH must be used, like EPFOHO UAN ENG. Similarly, if any individual wants message updates in Marathi, then the format in which they must type is EPFOHO UAN MAR.
Balance Check Through Call:
An individual can carry out an EPF balance check on mobile through a missed call from the registered mobile number to the authorised phone. This service can only be availed if UAN is integrated with the Know Your Customer details. If one faces any issue regarding this, seek help from the employer.
After integration of UAN with KYC details, to go about this process, one must place a missed call on the EPF balance enquiry number 011-22901406 from the registered mobile number. On placing this missed call, an SMS would be received providing one with Provident Fund details.
