What is Digit International Travel Insurance and how does it work?
How to choose the best travel insurance plan for my international trip?
To choose the best international travel insurance plan for your trip, start by identifying your travel type, whether it's a single trip, multiple trips, student travel, business travel, or a family vacation.
Then, compare coverage options that include medical emergencies, baggage protection, trip cancellations, and adventure sports. Be sure to check exclusions, such as pre-existing conditions, and review the sum insured to ensure it aligns with healthcare costs in your destination country. Digit offers both single-trip and annual multi-trip plans with flexible pricing and coverage to suit different travel needs.

Which plan is better: Single-trip or Multi-trip travel insurance?
It depends on your travel frequency:
- Single-Trip Insurance is best for occasional travellers who take one or two trips a year.
- Multi-Trip Insurance is ideal for frequent flyers, business travellers, or families who travel multiple times annually. It offers convenience, cost savings, and comprehensive coverage for multiple journeys in a year with a maximum of 30/45/60/90 days per trip limit.
Digit’s multi-trip plans start at ₹2,999 (excl. GST), covering up to $500,000 sum insured for a 30-day trip per adult, and include benefits like adventure sports coverage, flight delay compensation, and smartphone-enabled claims.
What should I do if I haven’t received my travel insurance policy after purchase?
If you haven’t received your travel insurance policy after making the purchase, here are a few steps you can take:
- Check your KYC status. If your KYC (Know Your Customer) process is incomplete or pending, your policy may not be activated yet. Completing KYC is essential for policy issuance.
- Log in to your Digit app account using the same email ID or mobile number you used while buying the policy. Your policy is usually available in the ‘My Policies’ section.
Still can’t find it? Reach out to Digit’s customer care team at 1800-103-448 for assistance. They’ll help you locate your policy or resolve any issues related to its activation.
Can I change my travel dates after buying the policy? If yes, how?
If you need to change your travel dates after purchasing your policy, you can do so by sending an email to support.travelmobileops@godigit.com or hello@godigit.com with the revised dates. Please be aware that if your new dates alter the policy pricing, you may need to pay the difference.
To avoid last-minute issues, we recommend allowing some buffer time when making changes.
Also, ensure that your total trip duration does not exceed the maximum number of days permitted under your selected plan.
How do I extend my Digit international travel insurance policy during my trip?
If your trip gets extended and you need to lengthen your insurance coverage, you can request an extension by emailing support.travelmobileops@godigit.com or hello@godigit.com with your new travel dates.
Subsequently, you will be asked to submit a duly filled Good Health Declaration form and pay any applicable extra premium. Once these requirements are fulfilled, your policy will be extended, and the revised policy will be sent to you. Please ensure you notify us 7 days before the expiry date of your original policy period.
What happens if my travel insurance expires while I’m still abroad?
If your travel insurance policy expires while you are still abroad, coverage for your trip will cease from the date of expiry. It is therefore essential to purchase coverage for the entire duration of your travel.
If you need to extend your coverage, be sure to notify us at least 7 days before your policy expires for a timely extension.
In the event of a last-minute extension due to unforeseen circumstances, you can still contact us at support.travelmobileops@godigit.com or hello@godigit.com for assistance.
How can I correct errors in my travel insurance policy (name, DOB, travel dates, passport number, nominee details)?
If you need to amend any details in your travel insurance policy after purchasing it, simply email the updated information to support.travelmobileops@godigit.com or hello@godigit.com.
For corrections that do not affect your premium, such as changes to your name, passport number, email address, contact details, residential address, nominee information, or pre-existing disease (PED) details, the updated policy will be sent to you via email.
If your requested changes involve factors that can impact your premium (such as changing the country or region of travel, traveller’s date of birth, or travel dates), you will receive a payment link via email to cover any additional premium. Once payment is completed, the corrected policy will be sent to you. If these changes result in a lower premium, the difference will be refunded to your original payment method.
How do I add a nominee to my travel insurance policy?
You can add a nominee to your travel insurance policy during the purchase process via our app or website. Simply enter the required details in the nominee section while completing your purchase.
If you wish to update your nominee details after buying your policy, you can do so by sending an email with the necessary information to support.travelmobileops@godigit.com or hello@godigit.com.

How much does Digit international travel insurance cost for a single trip?
The cost of our international travel insurance for a single trip typically starts from ₹19 per day per person. The cost depends on several factors, including your destination, age, trip duration, and coverage amount.
For example, a 7-day trip to Southeast Asia may cost significantly less than a trip to Europe or the USA due to differences in healthcare costs and risk factors. You can get an exact quote instantly on Digit’s website by entering your travel details.
How much does Digit multi-trip travel insurance cost?
Digit’s multi-trip travel insurance is designed for frequent travellers and covers unlimited international trips within a year. The pricing starts from around ₹2,999 annually for $500,000 sum-insured for a 30-day trip per adult within the policy term.
This plan is ideal for business travellers or individuals who travel abroad multiple times a year, offering both convenience and savings compared to buying separate single-trip policies.

What does Digit travel insurance cover during my trip abroad?
Digit’s international travel insurance covers medical emergencies, hospitalisation, accidental injuries, and emergency evacuation. Additionally, it includes non-medical benefits such as trip cancellations, flight delays, loss or delay of baggage, passport loss, and personal liability.

Are pre-existing diseases covered under Digit international travel insurance?
Coverage for pre-existing diseases is available up to the limits specified in your chosen plan or policy schedule. Can I claim if my baggage is lost, delayed, or stolen, including gadgets?
Yes, you can claim if your baggage is lost, delayed, or stolen, including personal belongings.
Digit travel insurance covers:
- Delayed baggage: If your checked-in baggage arrives late during your trip (not on return to your home city), and the delay exceeds the time mentioned in your policy, you’ll be reimbursed up to the insured amount as per policy.
- Lost baggage: If your checked-in baggage is permanently lost at the final destination or during transit at the airport, you’ll be paid a portion of the insured amount as per policy.
- Stolen items: If your baggage or personal belongings are stolen during the trip (due to theft, robbery, etc.), you’ll be compensated, subject to policy limits, depreciation, and deductibles.
What qualifies as a valid reason for trip cancellation or interruption?
Digit covers several valid reasons for trip cancellation or interruption, including:
- Serious illness, injury, or death of you, your family, or travel companion

- Unexpected strike, riot, or civil unrest
- Theft of passport/visa before travel
- Government-issued travel bans or quarantine
- Natural disasters or fire before departure

These reasons must be supported by relevant documentation (e.g., medical reports, death certificates, embassy letters) when filing a claim. Also, you’re advised to check your policy for more details about the qualified reasons.
Is a flight delay covered under Digit’s travel insurance?
Yes, Digit covers flight delays that exceed a minimum time threshold, typically 4 hours or more. Compensation is provided for each block of time your flight is delayed, up to the maximum insured amount. To claim, you’ll need proof of delay from the airline and receipts for any expenses incurred during the waiting period.

Does Digit cover OPD (Outpatient) expenses or only hospital admission?
Yes, Digit travel insurance does cover OPD (Outpatient Department) expenses, not just hospital admissions. This means you can claim for visits to a clinic, hospital, or consultation room for diagnosis or treatment, as long as it’s based on a doctor’s advice.
However, this coverage is subject to sub-limits mentioned in your Policy Schedule, so the amount you can claim may be capped.
