There is no denying that many Indians shy away from travelling abroad, primarily because they feel that visa application involves too many uncertainties. According to recent regulations introduced by the Sri Lankan Cabinet, Indian tourists can now visit Sri Lanka visa-free. This is a pilot project in effect from 1st Oct'24 to 31st Mar'25.
Travellers must apply for an ETA before arriving in Sri Lanka subject to issuing visa free of charge up to 31st March 2025. The validity period of this free ETA is 30 days and permits double entry from the date of initial arrival to Sri Lanka. If you are planning on visiting Sri Lanka during or post the pilot project duration, you will still need to apply for an ETA.
