• If the loss or damage to your electric car happens due to short circuit, maybe due to mounting, dismounting or vehicle in charging port, then payment would be made if it results in damage/failure to covered parts.
• If any accidental external means lead to loss or damage, then no depreciation will be applicable on the vehicle battery.

1. Loss or damage to electrical panel for vehicle charging point

This cover protects you in case of loss or damage to the electrical panel for vehicle charging point due to the various risks listed in Section I of base policy including any loss or damage due to animal attack and animal scratch to the panel.

Note that the damaged electrical panel should have been installed specifically for the insured vehicle and should not be for any other vehicle.

2. Loss or damage to vehicle charger including charging cable

Under this, Digit will cover loss or damage to the vehicle charger including charging cable, due to the risks listed in Section I of base policy including any loss or damage due to animal attack.

The coverage will be provided for both wall mounted and portable vehicle charger.

3. Assistance Services Specific to EV

This add-on safeguards you in case your electric vehicle is immobilized within the geographical limit as per the base insurance policy.

You will then get assistance services for the EV that has been immobilised due to malfunctioning of battery or if the battery runs out of charge.

• Mobile Charging Station Service

In case the battery of the insured vehicle runs out of charge, Digit will arrange for a mobile generator van or portable mobile generators at the vehicle’s location to help charge the battery.

However, remember that you will be able to charge from the generator driven van only for 30 minutes or till the battery charge reaches 30% (whichever is earlier).

Any additional charging cost for more than 30 minutes or above 30% battery charge will be borne by you.

• Replacing Discharged Battery with Charged One (in case vehicle battery is swappable) -

If your vehicle’s battery is swappable and if you’re in a situation where the battery of the vehicle is discharged, then Digit will arrange to deliver charged vehicle battery to your immobilised vehicle, if the battery swap option is available.

For the following general exclusions, Digit is NOT liable to pay any amount or claim under this add-on cover in the event of the following:

1. In case of constructive loss/total loss of your vehicle.
2. If the loss or damage is covered under any other type of insurance policy or manufacturer’s warranty or recall campaign or any other packages.
3. If you notify Digit after 3 days of the happening of the loss or damage. However, depending on the insurance company’s sole discretion and valid reason for delay furnished by you in writing, you may be approved for a claim.
4. No claim if any repair has been carried out without prior approval from Digit.
5. If charging of the vehicle is not done as per the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) guidelines.
6. No claims related to loss or damage due to wear and tear.
7. If the battery health is below the threshold as per OEM guidelines.
8. If the battery is already dead due to untimely charging or any other purpose.
9. If the car stopped due to battery over discharge and is not plugged in for charging within 24 hours from the time of stoppage.
10. If you have not taken the minimum required reasonable care to protect the further loss or damage of the electric or hybrid car.
