Can I cancel my Go Digit General Insurance Limited health policy and get a refund of the policy premium?

Yes. You may cancel your policy and receive a refund of premium for the unexpired period. The amount refundable depends on when and how you cancel – within the Free Look Period (see Question 3) or thereafter (see Question 4) – and is calculated in line with applicable IRDAI regulations.

How much will I be paid on Free Look cancellation?

You are entitled to a refund of the premium paid, subject only to the following deductions: a proportionate risk premium for the period of cover for which you were on risk; expenses, if any, incurred on the medical examination of the proposer; and stamp duty charges. The balance premium will be refunded to you.

Can I cancel my policy after the Free Look Period?

Yes. You may cancel your policy at any time during the policy term by giving 7 days’ notice in writing. Where the policy term is up to one year and no claim has been made during the policy period, a proportionate (pro-rata) refund of premium for the unexpired policy period will be made. For policies with a term of more than one year, premium for the unexpired policy period will be refunded where the risk coverage for such policy years has not commenced.

The Company may cancel the policy only on the grounds of established fraud, by giving you a notice. Your health policy is otherwise renewable and renewal will not be denied except in the case of established fraud, non-disclosure or misrepresentation.

Will cancellation affect the portability of my policy?

No. You retain the right to port your indemnity health policy to another insurer. On porting, your accrued credits – Sum Insured, No Claim Bonus, specific waiting periods, waiting period for pre-existing diseases and the Moratorium period – are transferred, subject to the prescribed portability process and timelines.
