Understand the Financial Support Provided to your Loved Ones

If you pass away during the policy term, your nominee will receive the highest of the following:

  • 10× the Annualized Premium
  • 105% of Total Premiums Paid (excluding taxes, riders, and extra premiums)
  • Sum Assured on Death (as agreed at the start of the policy)

Once the death benefit is paid, the policy terminates. This payout ensures maximum financial support to your loved ones.

Optional Riders & Add-On Benefits (Non-POSP Only)

You can enhance the basic plan with the following inbuilt optional benefits, available only at policy inception:

accidental total and permanent disability benefit rider

Additional Accidental Death Benefit (ADB)

This optional benefit offers an additional lump sum payout if the life assured passes away due to an accident during the policy term. To qualify, the death must occur within 180 days of the accident. It can be added at the time of policy inception by paying an extra premium.

This rider enhances the basic death benefit by providing extra financial protection in case of accidental death. Once the benefit is paid out, the policy terminates.

hospice benefit

Additional Accidental Total and Permanent Disability (ATPD) Benefit

If the life assured suffers total and permanent disability due to an accident, this benefit pays a lump sum amount. Once this benefit is paid, coverage for ATPD terminates, but the policy continues for the death benefit and any other in-force optional benefits for the remaining term.

terminal illness

Accelerated Terminal Illness Benefit

Upon diagnosis of a terminal illness during the policy term, this benefit pays the death benefit amount as a lump sum in advance. Terminal illness is defined as an incurable medical condition expected to cause death within 6 months, confirmed by two independent medical practitioners. Payment of this benefit terminates the policy, and it ends after this payout.

Accidental Death & Disability Benefit Exclusions

No benefit will be paid under ADB or ATPD if the claim arises due to any of the following:

  • Suicide or self-inflicted injuries
  • Use of drugs or alcohol
  • Involvement in war, rebellion, or civil unrest
  • Criminal activities or breaking the law
  • Flying in non-commercial aircraft (except as a fare-paying passenger)
  • Adventure or extreme sports (e.g., skydiving, bungee jumping)
  • Undisclosed pre-existing medical conditions
  • Mental health or nervous system disorders
  • Cosmetic, fertility, or experimental treatments
  • Injuries caused by radiation or nuclear exposure

These exclusions ensure that the benefits are paid only for genuine accidental cases as defined in the policy.

Suicide Clause in Glow Term Insurance

If the policyholder dies by suicide within 12 months from the start of the policy, or the revival of a lapsed policy, then the insurer will not pay the full death benefit. Instead, the nominee will receive the higher of the following two amounts:

  • 80% of the total premiums paid (excluding taxes and rider charges), or
  • Unexpired risk value (a calculated value based on the remaining coverage period and policy terms).

This clause is designed to discourage misuse of life insurance policies and protect the insurer from financial risk in cases of early suicide. If the death by suicide occurs after 12 months, the death benefit is typically payable, as per the policy terms.

What Happens If You Survive the Glow Term Insurance Period?

What If I Miss Premium Payments?

To ensure flexibility in premium payments, a grace period is provided based on the chosen payment frequency:

Payment Frequency Grace Period Allowed
Monthly 15 days
Quarterly / Half-Yearly / Yearly 30 days

If premiums aren’t paid even after the grace period, the policy lapses.

Note: If the life assured passes away during the grace period, the outstanding premium will be deducted from the death benefit before it is paid to the nominee.
