How to Get Legal Heir Certificate in Telangana?

Telangana government gives its citizens the right to apply for a legal heir certificate in case of the demise of a person, which entitles them to several benefits and more so if the deceased person is a government employee.

This article discusses the uses, documents required, and the process to apply for a legal heir certificate in Telangana.

There are several uses for a legal heir certificate, and some of them are: 

• To claim the pension of a deceased 
•  To transfer the house tax
• To transfer the bills of the house 
• To claim any property of the deceased

The citizens of Telangana can apply for a legal heir certificate through two possible ways: Online and Offline. Let’s go through them: 

1. Online Process

• Step 1: Register yourself through the e-service of the Telangana government.  
• Step 2: After registering, open the home page of MeeSeva and log into your account. 
• Step 3: After logging in, click on the “Certificates” tab and thereafter select “Revenue Department”. 
• Step 4: A list of services will appear in front of you. Click on “Family Membership Certificate”.
• Step 5: Fill in the form with proper details. 
• Step 6: Upload the required documents.
• Step 7: Click on “Show Payment” and make the payment as shown on the screen. 
• Step 8: Download the online receipt generated after the payment, and you are ready. 

2. Offline Process

• Step 1: Visit your nearest Mandal office. 
• Step 2: Get an application form. 
• Step 3: Fill in the form properly. 
• Step 4: Attach the required documents. 
• Step 5: Submit the form and make the payment. 

Note: Akshaya Centres only apply to the state of Kerala and not Telangana.

The required documents to apply for a legal heir certificate in Telangana are: 

• Aadhaar Card of the applicant 
• Ration Card of the applicant 
• Residential Certificate of the deceased 
• Birth Certificate of the applicant 
• Death Certificate of the deceased
• ₹2 Stamp
• Appropriately filled application form 

Along with the application form, the applicant has to pay a sum of ₹45 to apply for a Legal Heir Certificate in Telangana.

In Telangana, you don’t need to download the legal heir certificate. Once your application gets approved by the concerned authorities, it will be delivered through post to your address.
