Every two-wheeler owner in India must obtain a Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate to ensure their bike's emissions meet government standards. This certificate confirms that your bike meets the permissible emission level as specified in the Central Motor Vehicle Rules.

New two-wheelers receive a PUC valid for 1 year from the date of registration; older vehicles require renewal every 6 months. Driving without a valid PUC certificate can result in fines up to ₹1,000 for first offences and higher penalties for repeat violations.

• Step 4: After, you will receive details of the authorised testing centre along with a unique ID and the scheduled date and time for your emission test.
• Step 5: Take your bike to the designated centre at the allotted time to complete the emission check. Once your two-wheeler passes the test, the PUC certificate will be generated and can be downloaded directly from the Parivahan portal.

Bike owners can also get their vehicle’s PUC certificate offline by visiting an authorised centre for emission testing:

• Diesel Bikes: These bikes undergo a Smoke Density Test and an Idling CO Test to check the density of smoke and carbon monoxide emissions.

Step 3: PUC will be issued to your bike after the test if your bike’s emission levels are within the government-allowed limit.
