How to Apply for a Land Survey in Kerala, Fees & Documents Required

To make it easy for the people of Kerala to access land records before investing, the state government has launched an official site. So, citizens do not have to visit the government offices to access their land details. However, they can also go for an offline procedure  to access their land details.

So, let’s delve into the process of applying for a land survey in Kerala.

Whether you want to map your property’s boundary, locate it, describe, monument, or corner a piece of land, you can run a survey and land record in Kerala.

The process is simple. Just follow the below steps -

Step 1: Visit KLIM official website ‘E-Rekha’.

Step 2: Look on the top right-hand side. You will find a login or signup option — login in by providing your ID and password or sign up if you have not registered yet. 

Step 3: Next, click on the ‘file search’ option present in the menu bar. The site will provide you with three options, i.e., District maps, Old Survey Maps, and Resurvey records. 

Step 4: You will also have to fill in your village, district, taluk and other details from the drop-down list. Enter your block number and survey number as well.

Step 5: Once filling all the columns, click on the ‘Submit’ button. You will get a preview of your property documents.

Step 6: If you want a hard copy of the land record, click on the ‘download’ option. 

Step 7: After receiving the required service, click on the ‘checkout’ button.

Remember to download your property record. You will have to pay a fee and submit certain documents.Now, let us look at what documents are necessary for carrying a land survey in Kerala.

If you have the following documents, you can easily survey land records in Kerala -

• Application form
• All documents as required by the authorities
• Current ROR
• Address proof
• Identity proof
• Affidavit or notary which states who is the owner of the land
• Land document appropriately attested by a Gazetted officer
• Aadhaar card
• Plot number with stated land boundary
• Recent photocopy of the land map and Form F

Only the person who is the landowner is eligible for finding land details by survey number in Kerala.

Those who want to avail themselves of an offline procedure for land demarcation can follow the process mentioned below. Here we have explained it step-wise -

• Step 1: Visit your area’s Tahsildar office and ask for an application form.
• Step 2: Fill in the form carefully and submit it to the respective office along with the documents required.
• Step 3: After receiving your application, a Tehsildar will check it for further approval.
• Step 4: After verifying your application, the official authorities generally approve your request and pass an order the same day. However, sometimes they may take a day.
• Step 5: This form is then redirected to the Revenue officer or other inspector for a survey. You can expect to complete it within one month after the Tehsildar passes the order.

When land demarcation is in process, the RI office will issue you a spot memo. This memo is signed by the land committee chairman, two independent witnesses, and all the parties involved.

If the parties refuse to sign this memo, then endorsement by the revenue office is made. Moreover, further process is made according to the case.

This spot memo will reach you within fifteen days of the date when the demarcation process starts. Moreover, the boundary is built within one week.

The process for registering on the site is effortless.It includes the following:

• Step 1: First, go to the E-Rekha site. There’s a signup option on the right side of the home page. Click on it.
• Step 2: The site will redirect you to a new page to fill in your email ID and create a password.
• Step 3: Re-confirm your password and fill in details like address, mobile number, and pin code. Enter the Captcha and click on ‘Register’.

Note that the email ID you will be providing will appear as your user name.

After registering, you can use the given credentials to log in to the portal for further service access.
