BH Number Plate in Karnataka: Eligibility & How to Apply

The BH series, designed to facilitate interstate vehicle movement, requires owners to pay road tax in instalments at regular intervals—initially every two years, then annually after 14 years of registration.

Here's the step-by-step renewal process:

• Step 1: Visit the Parivahan Portal: Go to the official Ministry of Road Transport and Highways website, Parivahan Sewa, to initiate the renewal process.
• Step 2: Login and Access Services: Select “Pay Your Tax” from the Online Services menu, and choose Karnataka as your state.
• Step 3: Enter Vehicle Details: Provide the last five digits of your chassis number along with your registration number. The system will automatically fetch your vehicle details and display the pending tax amount.
• Step 4: Make the Payment: Select the payment period, typically two years or a multiple thereof, such as four or six years. Complete the transaction using the available payment options.
• Step 5: Get Confirmation: Once the payment is successful, the portal will update your vehicle’s tax status and reflect the next due date on your record. You can also download the payment receipt for future reference.

Owning a BH number plate in Karnataka does not change your responsibilities as a vehicle owner under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Just like any other vehicle, you must have a valid motor insurance policy such as car insurance. Notably, the BH series does not affect your insurance premium.
