Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is a program to provide scholarship to young scientists. The Department Of Science and Technology funds, and the Indian Institute of Science administers this program.

The scheme offers contingency grants and scholarships till the pre-Ph.D level to eligible students. In addition, it provides a fellowship and admission to the IISER and the IISc.

Who Are Eligible for Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana?

The eligibility criteria for this scheme are as follows -

Streams	Eligibility Criteria
Stream SA	Students passing the 10th board examination and enrolling for the 11th standard during 2021-22. They are required to process a study certificate after the selection in KVPY as a provisional fellow. To activate the fellowship, they must join any UG course in pure science in the 2023-24 academic year. They must secure an aggregate of 60% (50% for ST, SC and PWD) in science subjects and mathematics in the 12th board examination.
Stream SX	Students who enrolled in the 12th standard during 2021–22 with Science subjects. They must intend to join a UG program in core science during 2022-23. They must obtain 60% (50% for ST, SC and PWD) in science subjects and mathematics in the 12th board examination.
Stream SB	Students who passed the 12th board examination and aspiring to join an undergraduate course in basic science are eligible for this stream. They must be eligible to enrol under a UG program in 2021-22 and produce a study certificate for 1st year. They must obtain 60% (50% for ST, SC and PWD) in science subjects and mathematics in 1st year of their degree.

Note: Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana will provide some additional fellowships to students who belong to SC, ST or PDW.

What Are the Benefits of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana?

Followings are the benefits of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana -

Selected fellows for stream SA, SX and SB will get a ₹5,000 monthly stipend.
They will also receive an annual contingency grant of ₹20,000 during their undergraduate program's 1st to 3rd year.
A fellow in their 4th to 5th years of postgraduate degree will get a ₹7,000 monthly stipend.
In addition, they will get a contingency grant of ₹28,000 per annum.
