Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme was first launched on 9th January 2020 by Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. This scheme provides financial support to every mother or any recognised guardian in the mother’s absence who is below the poverty line to provide Intermediate Education (Class 1 – Class 12) to their children/child.

This progressive scheme is provided to everyone irrespective of their caste, religion, creed and region.

The main features of this Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme are – 

• Money will be transferred online directly to the bank account of the beneficiary. 
• The mother will not get any assistance from Andhra Pradesh Government once the child completes class 12.
• The beneficiary will receive the money every year in January till the beneficiary completes his/her education.
• In case the beneficiary decides to discontinue their education, no financial support will be provided to their family.

Eligibility criteria for this scheme are –

• The applicant should be a legal resident of Andhra Pradesh.
• He/she should belong to the BPL household and must possess a white ration card.
• The child should study in a junior college or government school between the 1st and 12th standard and should have at least 75% attendance.
• If the child chooses to end studies in the middle of an academic year, they cannot enjoy the benefits of this plan.

You can visit the closest government office to get the application form, or you can also download it online. 

• Step 1: Visit the official portal of the Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme and download the application form.
• Step 2: Fill up all details carefully and attach the required documents to this form. 
• Step 3: Submit this application form to the ward secretariat or closest government office.

You have to submit the following documents to enjoy the benefits of Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme –

• Aadhaar Card
• Address proof
• White Ration Card
• Guardian’s or mother’s bank account details
• Name of the school
• Mother’s passport size photo
• Child’s school identity card

• Beneficiaries will get financial support to provide proper education to the children.

Additionally, the Chief Minister of this state has announced the second phase of this scheme. Students will get gadgets like smartphones, laptops or computers to continue their online classes as a part of the second phase of this Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme.
