To further boost tourism in the state, the airport will be extended to cater to Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. Besides, a taxi track of 191X23 m dimension will be set up and the apron will be expanded to 191X23 m.

2. Shella Airport, Shella

This small airport used to operate a single domestic terminal and can facilitate small peak-hour passengers. Here are a few more details:

• The airport had one paved runway of 3,000 by 100 ft (914 m × 30 m). 
• Its terminal used to cater to 20 passengers for arrival and departure. 
• At present, Shella Airport has no scheduled commercial air services.

3. Baljek Airport, Jengjal

Inaugurated in 2008, Baljek Airport or Tura Airport will be functional soon to operate flights between Tura and Shillong. Here are a few more details:

• It was initially constructed to capacitate a 20-seater aircraft like Dornier 228 and to promote the overall development of the region.
• The airport is the only lone air connectivity to the Garo Hills region.
• Its existing 3300 ft runway will be extended by 1200 ft.
