Dabolim is the first airport in Goa which was opened by the Portuguese administration in 1955. After Goa's independence in 1961, Indian Air Force set up its naval airbase here. The airport is located 4 km away from Vasco da Gama and 30 km away from the capital, Panaji. A newly renovated passenger terminal was inaugurated at the Dabolim Airport in 2013.

Also known as Mopa International Airport, it lies within a distance of 34 kilometres from the capital city.   This airport was inaugurated in 2022 to reduce air traffic congestion at Dabolim Airport. This is the first international airport in India which is located within 150 km of the other international airport.
