RTO Nanded

Nanded is one of the largest cities in Maharashtra. It is also the ninth most populated city in India. Nanded is regarded as one of the most sacred Sikh destinations across India. It receives plenty of tourists throughout the year and hence requires a clear road network. 

The RTO office in Nanded with the code MH-26 takes care of the road network and traffic in the city among the rest of the functions.

The functions of RTO Nanded include:

• Ensuring the enforcement of all the rules and regulations as stated under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and the Central Motor Vehicle Rule 1989.

• Levying and collecting taxes in accordance with the Motor Vehicles Act 1988.

• Managing permits to facilitate the growth and development of road transportation. 

• Conducting driving tests, issuing and renewing various types of driving licences.

• Conducting inspections and providing vehicle fitness certificates.

• Issuing different types of motor vehicle permits.

Different types of vehicle registrations in Nanded are:

• Temporary Registration

• Permanent Registration

The charges for vehicle registration in Nanded are as mentioned below:

• Charges for registration: ₹600 for all the vehicles

• Charges for hypothecation: ₹1500 for vehicles purchased on loan

• Charges for number plates: ₹230 to ₹400; charges are the same for High-Security Registration Plates or HSRP number plates 

• Charges for temporary registration: ₹1200 to ₹1500; temporary registration of vehicles is valid only for a month

Road tax charges for vehicles under RTO Nanded are levied in accordance with the Maharashtra road tax. The charges are mentioned below:

• Two-wheelers registering for the first time: 10% to 12%

• Two-wheelers that have been registered previously: 32% to 95%

• Four-wheelers registering for the first time: 7% to 13%

• Four-wheelers that have been registered previously: 27% to 97%

Drivers who do not abide by the traffic rules are penalised under RTO Nanded. The charges for the different penalties are mentioned below:

• Charges for driving without a licence: ₹5000

• Charges for rash driving: ₹1000 to ₹5000; 1 month to 6 months of imprisonment 

• Charges for using a cell phone while driving: ₹5000

• Charges for driving without a helmet: ₹1000; cancellation of driving licence

• Charges for driving unregistered vehicles: ₹5000

Yes, it is mandatory to have motor insurance while driving in Nanded. When a vehicle is not insured, car owners are subject to payment of penalties. Besides, it can also lead to imprisonment for up to 3 months.

The penalty for not having vehicle insurance is ₹2000. Repeating the offence would lead to an increased penalty of ₹4000.

As per a report, an accident took place at the Nanded-Kinwat National Highway between an Eicher Tempo and a truck. It was a severe accident that resulted in the death of 5 people and injured five more. There were disturbances in the traffic around the area due to the accident. 

An accident in front of the Maltekdi petrol pump resulted in the death of 2 people. A bike was crushed by a public bus where; the driver of the bike and a pregnant woman riding in it were dead on the spot.
