The functions of Madhya Pradesh RTO are as follows:

• Provide NOC for vehicle

• Collect road taxes from vehicle owners

You must display on the number plate of your vehicle the registration number. You will receive it from the RTO office.

The basic registration charges for all vehicles are ₹600. However, the state government determines the amount for all the cities and districts falling under this state. 

Below are the registration charges you must pay in Madhya Pradesh:

• Hypothecation Charges: ₹1500 (if you purchase the vehicle on loan)

• Number Plate: For High-Security Number Plate (HSRP): ₹230 to ₹400

• Parking Fee or State Development Charges: ₹2000 – MCD Parking Fees for vehicles below ₹4 Lakh

• MCD Parking Fees for Cars Above ₹4 Lakh (in Some States): ₹4000 

• Temporary Registration Charges: ₹1200 to ₹1500 (valid for up to one month)

• FasTag: ₹600 (payable at the time of purchasing a car)

• Road Tax Charges: 

  • Cars Under ₹10 Lakh: Electric: 4%, Petrol/CNG: 8%, Diesel: 10%

  • Cars Above ₹10 Lakh but Under ₹20 Lakh: Electric: 4%, Petrol:10%, Diesel: 12%

  • Cars Above ₹20 Lakh: Electric: 4%, Petrol: 14%, Diesel: 16%

Every vehicle owner in Madhya Pradesh must pay the road tax to get permission to drive. The Madhya Pradesh Road tax is evaluated separately for four and two-wheelers.

For Taxi:

• Seating capacity for 3-6+1 (excluding the driver): ₹150 per seat per quarter

• Seating capacity for 7-12+1 (excluding the driver): ₹450 per seat per quarter

For Four-Wheelers:

• Up to 800 kg: ₹64 for each quarter

• Between 800 and 1600 kg: ₹94 for each quarter

• Between 1600 and 2400 kg: ₹112 for each quarter

• Between 2400 and 3000 kg: ₹132 for each quarter

• Exceeding 3200 kg: ₹150 for each quarter

• Each trailer with an unladen weight of up to 1000 kg: ₹28 for each quarter

• Trailers above 1000 kg: ₹66 for each quarter

For Commercial Vehicles:

• Seating capacity for 4-12 passengers (excluding driver): ₹60 per seat per quarter

• Seating capacity for 4 to 50 passengers:  ₹60 per seat per quarter

• Seating capacity for 4 to 50 passengers excluding driver (Express bus): ₹80 per seat per quarter

• For Education bus (excluding driver): ₹30 per seat per quarter

HMSI, or Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, arranged a National Road Safety Awareness Campaign in Bhopal, MP. They taught more than 4100 school students in Bhopal the importance of traffic signals and rules.
