RTO Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai is located in the Konkan division of the state of Maharashtra. It is one of India’s most well-planned cities with a modern metropolitan infrastructure. Navi Mumbai has a wealthy residential neighbourhood and it is also a great commercial estate. The rise in population in the area is giving rise to congestion in the transport system. 

However, the RTO office in the city is diligently doing its part by performing mandatory routine services like registering vehicles, issuance of licences, collection of taxes, etc. The RTO code for Navi Mumbai is MH-43. • Permanent Registration

The charges for vehicle registration under RTO Navi Mumbai are mentioned below:

• Charges for registration: ₹600 for all the vehicles

• Charges for number plates: ₹230 to ₹400; charges are the same for High-Security Registration Plates or HSRP number plates 

• Charges for hypothecation: ₹1500 for vehicles purchased on loan

• Charges for temporary registration: ₹1200 to ₹1500; temporary registration of vehicles is valid only for a month

Road tax charges levied by RTO Navi Mumbai are as per Maharashtra road tax norms. These are mentioned below

For Two-Wheelers:

• Engine capacity upto 99cc: 10% of the vehicle cost subject to a minimum of 1500

• Engine capacity ranging between 99cc and 299cc: 11% of the vehicle cost subject to a minimum of 1500

• Engine capacity more than 299cc: 12% of the vehicle cost subject to a minimum of 1500

If the two-wheelers have been registered previously, the road tax is from 95.80% to 32.70%

For Four Wheelers:

• Petrol driven Motor Cars and Omni Buses: 11% of vehicle cost for vehicles costing up to 10 Lakhs, 12% of the vehicle cost for vehicles costing between 10 Lakhs and 20 Lakhs, 13% of the vehicle cost for vehicles costing more than 20 Lakh

• Diesel Driven Motor Cars and Omni Buses: 13% of the vehicle cost if the vehicle cost is up to 10 Lakh, 14% of the vehicle cost if the vehicle cost is between 10 Lakh and 20 Lakh, 15% of the cost of the vehicle for vehicles costing more than 20 Lakh

• CNG or LPG Driven New Vehicles: 7% of the cost of the vehicle if it is up to 10 Lakh, 8% of the cost of the vehicle if the vehicle costs between 10 Lakh and 20 Lakh, 9% of the cost of the vehicles for vehicles costing more than 20 Lakh

For four-wheelers that have been registered previously the road tax is 97.2% to 27.7%.

Not abiding by traffic rules will make vehicle drivers subject to penalties. Charges for breaking the different traffic rules are mentioned below:

• Charges for driving without wearing a seatbelt: ₹1000

• Charges for driving without a licence: ₹5000

• Charges for using a cell phone while driving: ₹5000

• Charges for carrying more passengers than the seating capacity in a four-wheeler: ₹200 for each extra passenger

• Charges for rash driving or over speeding: Between ₹1000 to ₹4000; seizure of the driving licence 

Yes, it is mandatory to have motor insurance while driving in Navi Mumbai. Driving a vehicle without insurance will make the owner subject to penalties and can also lead to imprisonment of up to 3 months.

Penalty for driving a vehicle without insurance is ₹2000. Repeating the offence will lead to an increased penalty of ₹4000.

As per report, 2 people were killed in a road accident near University Gate in Kalina. A boy was riding the scooter with his friend when an over speeding milk van crashed with the scooter. The driver of the van was arrested later and charged with rash driving and causing death by accident.

In another news, a delivery boy and a pillion rider were injured during an accident near Vazirani Sports Complex in Nerul. A man jumped the traffic signal with his scooter and crashed with the victim’s scooter. The police arrested the man and charged him with sections 279, 336, 337, and 338 of the Indian Penal Code or IPC.

The campaign ‘Alert Navi Mumbaika’ was launched by the police department of Navi Mumbai to create awareness about emergency number 112. The contact number 112 was introduced to assist the people in any case of emergency.
