The PVC voter ID card is the new version of the voter card. Initially, this card came in black and white colour and had a size of bank cards. The old version of the voter ID had a unique serial number, a hologram sticker, and the issuing authority's stamped signature.
Due to the monochrome print, the voter’s photo wasn't easily recognisable. The Election Commission of India has offered a facility to get a revamped coloured EPIC or colour voter ID to address this issue.
The Election Commission will issue this version of the voter card to individuals applying for rectification in their previous Voter ID cards.
Conversely, the ones who want the new version of the voter card have to bear an extra cost of ₹30. Individuals need to pay this amount at their respective city or district’s registration centre.
The EC also allows voters to download e-EPIC cards in PDF form. This removes the hassle of carrying physical copies of documents. They can simply download the e-version of voter cards on their smart device.
Let’s understand who is eligible to apply for a new colour voter ID card online and offline.
