An election is conducted in India every five years at local, state and central levels. Citizens get the opportunity to elect their leaders by casting votes. Each state and union territory has its own official Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) website where you can enrol for a voter ID card or download an issued voter ID.
This article will guide you with the entire procedure of voter ID search by name in Delhi.
Before preparing yourself to vote, you should know if your name exists on the electoral list. If your name is absent from this list, you are then not allowed to vote. This section will help guide you through the process of searching your voter ID by name.
Follow the below steps to check if your name exists on voter list:
Step 1: Visit the National Voters Service Portal.
Step 2: Navigate to the ‘Search in Electoral Roll’ and you will find two options on the page- Search by Details and Search by EPIC No.
Step 3: Click on ‘Search by Details’ option and enter your father's name, husband's name, age, date of birth, gender, respective state, district, and assembly constituency.
Step 4: If you want to search by EPIC, enter the EPIC Number and the name of the state.
Step 5: For both of these options, enter the CAPTCHA code at the end and click on submit. This will redirect you to a webpage which will reveal your voter registration details.
You can also check if your name is present on the voter list by sending an SMS. For this, you need to follow the below steps:
Step 1: Type EPIC followed by your EPIC number.
Step 2: Send this as a message to 7738299899 or 1950.
Step 3: Your phone will display your polling station number with your name.
If your name is however not registered in the Electoral Roll, an automatic reply of “No Record Found” will be generated.
After applying for a voter ID card in Delhi, applicants will need to know its status. Residents of Delhi need to follow the below steps to find out their voter ID status:
Step 1: Open the voter ID portal of Delhi.
Step 2: Click on “Search in Electoral Roll” and select “By Details” option.
Step 3: You will be redirected to a page where you have to enter the name of the district and assembly constituency from a drop-down menu. Enter your name and the name of parent/spouse as well.
Step 4: Click on “Search”. Now, you will be able to view your voter ID status.
Now that we have discussed how to Search Voter ID by Name in Delhi, you can get a clear overview on the same. In addition, if you find your name missing from the electoral list while searching, you need to fill up Form 6 on the official portal.
This can be carried out via both offline and online modes. However, if the last date of electoral roll passes, you need to wait for the next cycle to enrol for voting.
