The functions of RTO Jalna include:

RTO Jalna provides certain types of driving licences to individuals, categorised as:

• Light motor vehicle (LMV) licence
• Commercial driving licence for light motor vehicle
• Two-wheeler licence
• Two-wheeler licence without gears
• All India driving permit

RTO office in Jalna offers 2 types of vehicle registration certificate, such as:

After completing the process of vehicle registration, a vehicle owner will get a registration number which they must install into the vehicle’s permanent number plate.

The vehicle registration charges start from ₹600 for all vehicles. However, the other charges are as follows:

• Number Plate Charges: ₹230 - ₹400, similar to HSRP number plate
• State Development Charges and Parking Charges: ₹2000 to ₹4000
• Temporary Registration Charges: ₹1200 - ₹1500, till 1 month
• Hypothecation Charges: ₹1500 (if your car is purchased on loan)
• Road Tax Charges: 12% - 14% for cars ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh and 7% - 13% for cars up to ₹10 lakh

Jalna follows the Maharashtra road tax and they are as follows:

For Four-wheelers:

1. Petrol driven Motor Cars and Omnibuses: 11% to 13% of vehicle cost

2. Diesel Driven Motor Cars and Omnibuses: 13% to 15% of vehicle cost

3. CNG/LPG-driven vehicles: 7% to 9% of vehicle cost

For Two-Wheelers:

1. Engine capacity more than 299cc: 12% of vehicle cost

2. Engine capacity up to 99cc: 10% of vehicle cost

3. Engine capacity between 99cc and 299cc: 11% of vehicle cost

The traffic fines in Jalna begin from ₹500 and rise to ₹10000 if you fail to adhere to the new traffic fines in Jalna. Here is a list of offences and the penalties:

• Ignoring seatbelts while driving: ₹1000
• Using a mobile and driving: ₹5000
• Driving with no licence: ₹5000/community service
• Rash/Dangerous driving: ₹1000 - ₹5000 and/or imprisonment from 6 months - 1 year
• Driving without wearing a helmet: ₹1000 and/or community service for 3 months or/and licence disqualification
• Speeding/Racing on streets: For first-time offenders, ₹5000 fine, community service and/or imprisonment of 3 months. For repeat offenders, the penalty rises to ₹10000 and/or imprisonment of up to 1 year

Yes, it is mandatory to have a motor insurance. Driving without it will eventually lead to the payment of unnecessary fines of ₹2000 to ₹4000. The fines might rise to higher amounts if you repeat such actions.

To reduce the scope of corruption and enhance transparency, RTO Jalna has imposed 6 faceless service process flows.

These are:

1. Change of address on the licence

2. Renewal of driving licence

3. Issue secondary registration certificate

4. Change of address on the registration certificate

5. Renewal of licence

6. Issue no objection certificate

According to the news, Post-pandemic the roads of Jalna, Washim, Dhule, etc. Another news article says that Jalna witnessed more fatal road accidents due to the extremely poor condition of the roads. Also, there were multiple speed violations recorded.

However, the police had taken steps to introduce more surveillance cameras and drones. These will hover on the Expressway to locate broken-down vehicles and help in removing them to avoid rear-end collisions.
