If you purchased the vehicle on a loan, you need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the bank or financing institution indicating their approval to register the vehicle in your name.

A tragic road accident happened on a Sunday morning in July 2024. Three youths from Amritsar lost their lives while returning from Himachal Pradesh after visiting the Chintpurni temple. The incident occurred in the Amritsar-Punjab border area governed by Khalchian police station, 20 km from Mucchal village towards the Jalandhar highway.

Bikramdeep Singh, SHO of Khalchian police station, stated that the driver lost control of the car and was going at a high speed. The exact cause of the accident is suspected to be the driver's dozing off, but it is still under investigation. The impact caused severe damage to the vehicle, and the passersby immediately pulled the victims from the wreckage. 

The police are taking further action regarding this incident. 

Amritsar has taken the initiative regarding road safety campaigns recently. One major one is as follows: 

Many children these days, especially in Amritsar, have taken up underage driving. With this trend becoming a practice in Amristar, traffic police in this city have been at the forefront of conducting awareness programs on the stake of driving age. These Underage Driving campaigns aim to make the young generation aware of the risks and laws regarding underage driving.

On 22 July 2024, and subsequently, the Additional Director General of Police (Traffic) issued orders to implement the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act effectively and end juvenile motor vehicle crimes within the state's territory. 

There are also extensive consequences for parents, like a fine of as high as ₹25,000 and even serving time in jail for three years. The authorities plan to launch these awareness campaigns in seven countries until July 31, 2024. After that deadline, this grace period will end, and stricter measures will be implemented to reduce underage driving.
