Czech Republic Embassy & Consultates in India
India’s growing financial structure continues to attract significant FDI and bilateral investment from the Czech Republic. Trade between the two nations has surged from US $86 million in 1993 to over US $2.12 billion in FY 2023–24.
To strengthen this momentum, both governments operate under the 1974 Economic Cooperation Agreement and the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation (JCEC), whose latest session was held in December 2023.
Further, the Strategic Partnership on Innovation, signed in January 2024, expands collaboration into high-tech sectors such as AI, cybersecurity, defence, nuclear energy, and environmental technologies. The Czech Embassy and Consulates in India actively reinforce these ties, reflecting a robust and reciprocal relationship.

Functions of Embassy and Consulates of the Czech Republic in India
The Embassy and Consulates of the Czech Republic perform the following functions in India:
- Enhancing existing communication between the Czech Republic and India at political, social, cultural, economic and defence levels.
- Assisting authorities regarding the onboarding procedures of its citizens
- Addressing passport-related issues, like issuing an affidavit for lost passports
- Offering temporary passports to its citizens
- Helping out its citizens in India in the process of issuing visas, right from submitting applications to conducting interviews via its designated departments
- Promoting understanding of local laws and regulations to its citizens regarding the host country
- Taking care of business affairs that are primarily interrelated with the Czech Republic’s government
- Assisting the Czech Republic citizens if they get judicially involved in any unwanted situations in India
Jurisdiction of the Embassy and Consulates of the Czech Republic in India
The residents residing in Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal can connect with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi.
However, there is only one Embassy of the Czech Republic in India, whereas there are 4 honorary consulates located in the following cities:
- Mumbai - Covers Maharashtra and Goa, providing support under the supervision of the Embassy.
- Kolkata - Responsible for West Bengal and possibly nearby eastern states.
- Chennai - Oversees Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
- Chandigarh - Covers the regions of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and the union territory of Chandigarh
