RTO Office in Vasco

Vasco da Gama, popularly known as Vasco, is a city in Goa. It is named after the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama and is famous for its pristine beaches and age-old heritage of Portuguese culture. Vasco has a Regional Transport Office (RTO) operating under the Transport Department of Goa. 

As it is a travel destination for many people, attracting huge traffic, and to maintain it, the city has 1 RTO and its code is GA06. This office offers several services and maintains a comprehensive database of all motor vehicles registered.

Some of the functions that RTO Vasco offers include the following: 

• Issue Motor Vehicle Tax

• Renew driving licence

Exhibit the registration number on your vehicle’s number plate after you receive the certificate from the office.

The basic registration fee levied by Vasco RTO is ₹600. The other vehicle registration charges in Vasco RTO are as follows:

• FasTag Charges: ₹500 to ₹600 (payable at the time of buying a car)

• Hypothecation Charges: If you buy a car on loan, the charges are ₹1500

• For HSRP, Number Plate Fees: ₹230 to ₹400

• Parking Fee/State Development Fee: ₹2000 – MCD Parking Fees for cars below ₹4 Lakh

• MCD Parking Fees for Cars Above ₹4 Lakh (Applicable in some States): ₹4000 

• Temporary Registration Charges: ₹1500 to ₹2500 (valid for a month)

• EV Cars:
  • 6% for cars less than ₹10 Lakh
  • 8% for cars between ₹10 Lakh to ₹20 Lakh
  • 10% for cars Above ₹20 Lakh
• Petrol/CNG Cars:  
  • 8% for cars Below ₹10 Lakh
  • 10% for cars between ₹10 Lakh to ₹20 Lakh
  • 12% for cars above ₹20 Lakh
• Diesel Cars:
  • 10% for cars less than ₹10 Lakh
  • 12% for cars between ₹10 Lakh to ₹20 Lakh
  • 14% for cars Above 20 Lakh

Vasco follows the road tax levied by the Transport Department of Goa. So, here are the details of Goa road tax:

Four-Wheelers:

• 14% for vehicles more than ₹35 Lakh

• 13% for vehicles between ₹15 Lakh and ₹35 Lakh

• 11% for vehicles between ₹6 Lakh and ₹15 Lakh

• 9% for vehicles less than ₹6 Lakh 

Two-Wheelers:

• 15% for vehicles more than ₹3 Lakh

• 12% for vehicles between ₹1.5 Lakh and ₹3 Lakh

• 9% for vehicles less than ₹1.5 Lakh 

Some of the Goa traffic fines followed in Vasco are as follows:

• Overspeeding: ₹1500 (two-wheeler vehicle), ₹2000 (Light Motor Vehicle) and ₹4000 (Heavy Motor Vehicle).

• Drunk Driving: ₹10000 with six months of imprisonment, ₹15000 with two years of imprisonment for repeated offence

• Driving With an Invalid DL: ₹2000 (two-wheelers) and ₹3000 (three or four-wheelers).

• Disobeying Traffic Signals: ₹5000

• Riding a Two-Wheeler/Four-Wheeler Vehicle Without a Helmet: ₹500

• Obstructing Passage to Emergency Vehicles: ₹1000

Yes, it is mandatory to have motor insurance whenever you drive on the roads of Vasco. If you do not have third-party insurance, you will incur a penalty where you have to pay a fine of ₹2000 and ₹4000 for the first and second violations unnecessarily.

As per recent news, to mark Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, there was a procession which resulted in a massive traffic jam on the roads of Vasco.

Another report confirmed that three persons travelling on a scooter in the Vasco area hit a shuttle bus resulting in their death.

Recent news confirmed another tragic incident where a woman died after the two-wheeler on which she was riding a pillion, was knocked down by a speeding car at Shantinagar.

A road safety awareness campaign was held recently in Vasco by GOACAN. Police took part in this wonderful initiative and told drivers to follow the traffic rules and abide by the traffic signals.

Last year, a traffic safety awareness was held at the Vasco KTC bus stand. This awareness was to minimise accidents and save lives.
