RTO Dabwali

Mandi Dabwali also known as Dabwali is a small town in the city of Sirsa in Haryana. The town is located on the border of Haryana and Punjab. Since the early 2000s, it has been a famous marketing and manufacturing hub of open jeeps. So, people from different parts look to settle here. 

These new residents to register their vehicles and collect driving licences have to visit the city's RTO. It has only 1 RTO office having the code HR-25. It is strict with its rules and regulations and performs various functions.

Various functions of RTO Dabwali are mentioned below:

• Ensure the proper enforcement of the rules and regulations mentioned in the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and the Central Motor Vehicles Act 1989

• Conduct driving tests and issue driving licences

• Renew driving licences

• Issue No Objection Certificates or NOCs for vehicle transfer ownership

• Manage motor vehicle permits in order to facilitate the growth and development of road transportation 

• Levy and collect taxes in accordance with the Motor Vehicles Act 1989

Registration charges for new vehicles under RTO are as follows:

• Charges for registration: ₹600 for every four-wheeler

• Hypothecation: ₹1500 for vehicles that are bought on loan

• Charges for changing the number plate: ₹230 to ₹400; charges are the same for High-Security Registration Plates or HSRP number plates. 

• Temporary Registration Charges: ₹1200 to ₹1500, temporary registration is valid for a month 

RTO Dabwali follows the Haryana road tax rates. The road tax percentage is determined as per the increasing price of the vehicle. The rates are mentioned below:

• For two-wheelers: 4% to 6% of the vehicle cost

• For four-wheelers: 5% to 10% of the cost of the vehicle

• For commercial vehicles: ₹600 to ₹1450 quarterly depending on the type of the vehicle

Not following traffic rules makes vehicle owners subject to penalties. Charges for violating the different traffic rules are mentioned below:

• Charges for driving without wearing a seatbelt: ₹1000; ₹1000 for a repetitive offence

• Charges for driving over speed limit: ₹4000; ₹4000 for repetitive offence

• Charges for driving without a helmet: ₹1000; ₹1000 for repetitive offence

• Charges for driving without a licence: ₹5000; ₹5000 for repetitive offence

• Charges for jumping the red light: ₹100; ₹300 for repetitive offence

• Charges for using a cell phone while driving: ₹100; ₹300 for a repetitive offence

Yes, it is mandatory to have motor insurance while driving in Dabwali. Vehicle owners who drive without carrying proper insurance are subject to a penalty charge of ₹2000. For repeating the offence penalty charges increase to ₹4000. It may sometimes lead to imprisonment also.

According to a report, a collision between a school van and a car resulted in the death of 2 people and the injury of 3 others. This was when 5 members of a family were travelling to Sirsa and met with an accident on the Sirsa-Dabwali highway. The car did not notice a school bus taking a U-turn because of the fog which led to the accident. The police sent the dead bodies for post-mortem while the injured were admitted to a private hospital. 

Another news was published in which a man was reported dead after an accident between an auto and a bike near the gas agency on Dabwali road. The victim was a resident of the Jagmalwali village and was returning from work on his bike when the auto hit it from in front. The auto driver fled from the spot of the incident. The police registered a case and carried out an investigation.
