RTO Jind

Jind, the heart of Haryana, is one of the oldest districts of the state holding plenty of historical and mythological importance. The RTO code of Jind is HR-56 and it functions under the Government of Haryana Ministry of Road Transport. 

Jind has three RTOs and if you are a new resident here wanting to register your new vehicle, come to the RTO office and talk to the officials.

Jind offers several functions for vehicle owners in this place. Here is a list of some below:

• Register New Motor Vehicles

• Collect Road Tax

• Issue and Renew a Driving Licence

• Issue and Renew a Vehicle Registration Certificate

• Provide Vehicle Inspection and PUC certificate

• Provide Vehicle Fitness Certificate

• Grant International Driving Licence

• Provide tourist and motor vehicle permit

• Provide NOC for vehicles to transfer ownership

RTO offices in Jind ensure the following 4 types of driving licence:

• Learner’s Licence
• Commercial Driving Licence
• Permanent Licence
• International Driving Licence

Vehicle owners who do not have a valid registration certificate, cannot drive legally on Indian roads.

RTO Jind offers 2 types of vehicle registration, such as:

• Permanent Registration

• Temporary Registration

However, ensure to embed the vehicle registration number on the number plate of your vehicle as soon as you receive the vehicle registration certificate.

The vehicle registration charges in Jind include the following:

• Registration Fees: ₹600 for all vehicles 
• Number Plate Charges: ₹230 to ₹400 (similar to high-security registration plates) 

• Hypothecation Charges: ₹1500 (if you buy a vehicle on loan)

• Parking Fee/State Development Fee: 

  • ₹2000 (MCD parking fees for vehicles under ₹4 lakh)

  • ₹4000 (MCD parking fees for vehicles above ₹4 lakh(applicable in some states)

• Temporary Registration Fee: ₹1200 to ₹1500 (for up to 1 month)

• Road Tax Charges: 

  • Vehicles up to ₹6 lakh: 5%

  • Vehicles between ₹6 lakh to ₹20 lakh: 8%

  • Cars above ₹20 lakh: 10%

• FasTag Charges: ₹600 (on purchase of the vehicle)

Jind is one of the 22 districts of Haryana and follows the Haryana Road Tax such as:

2-Wheelers (depending on price range):

• Up to Rs.75000: 4%

• Between ₹75000 & ₹2 lakh: 6%

• Exceeding ₹2 lakh: 8%

4-Wheelers (depending on price range):

• Up to ₹6 lakh: 5%

• Between ₹6 lakh & ₹20 lakh: 8%

• Exceeding ₹20 lakh: 10%

Commercial Vehicles:

The Haryana state tax for a taxi is calculated at 2% of the vehicle cost.

• Up to four seats: ₹600 quarterly

• Between four & six seats: ₹625 quarterly

• Between seven & twelve seats: ₹1450 quarterly

It is important to note that if any of these mentioned vehicles carry a sidecar, it is not considered eligible for tax.

The traffic fines in Jind include:

• Riding Without Licence: ₹5000 and/or community service

• Driving/Riding Using Mobile Phones: ₹5000

• Riding Without Wearing Helmet: ₹1000 and/or licence cancellation, community service for 3 months

• Rash Driving: ₹1000 to ₹5000 for first time offence, ₹10000 for second time offence

• Blocking Emergency Vehicles: ₹10000 and /or 6 months in prison

• Jumping a Red Light: ₹1000 to ₹5000 and/or 6 months to 1 year in imprisonment, and seizure of your licence.

Yes, it is mandatory to have motor insurance as mentioned by the Transport Department. Car insurance protects you from third-party liabilities and provides personal accident coverage.  Therefore, every vehicle owner must own valid car insurance. However, failing to produce one will lead to paying fines such as ₹2000 and/or 3 months in imprisonment, community service, for a first-time offence and ₹4000 for repeated violation.

As per news from the past 2 years, 24 places in the district were declared as black spots since there have been several accidents happening here causing the death of nearly 104 people. According to the police, most of these accidents took place around nighttime. However, traffic police were deployed in these areas to prevent road accidents.

Last year news confirmed that under the aegis of the Traffic Interpretation Center, an awareness rally was organised at Government College Alewa. The motto was to educate students about road safety and traffic rules.

Recently, the traffic police drew challans on the drivers who violated the traffic rules. During this, the drivers were informed about the rules. Additionally, a special campaign was conducted on the streets of Jind, under the leadership of police personnel.
