• Registration Fees for all Vehicles: ₹600 

• Number Plate Charges: ₹230 to ₹400, this is similar to HSRP

• Hypothecation Charges: ₹1500 (if a vehicle owner purchases a vehicle on loan)

• Temporary Registration Fee: ₹1200 to ₹1500 (for up to 1 month)

States charge road tax for maintenance of the quality of roads and to ensure the security of the commuters. Yamuna Nagar follows the Haryana Road Tax, which are as follows:

Commercial Vehicles (quarterly):

• Between Seven & Twelve Seats: ₹1450 

• Between Four & Six seats: ₹625 

• Till Four Seats: ₹600 

Two-Wheelers:

• Value Exceeding ₹2 lakh: 8%

• Between ₹75000 & ₹2 lakh: 6%

• Up to Rs.75000: 4%

Four-Wheelers:

• Value Exceeding ₹20 lakh: 10%

• Between ₹6 lakh & ₹20 lakh: 8%

• Up to ₹6 lakh: 5%

The traffic fines in Yamuna Nagar include:

• Driving/Riding without Registration: ₹5000 for a first-time offence and ₹10000 for a subsequent offence

• Driving Without Wearing Helmet: ₹1000 and/or licence seizure, community service for 3 months

• Riding Without Licence: ₹5000 and/or community service

• Driving/Riding Using Mobile Phones: ₹5000

• Rash Driving: ₹1000 to ₹5000 for first time offence, ₹10000 for repeated offence

• Juvenile Offences: ₹25000 with 3 years imprisonment. Additionally, it includes cancellation of registration for 1 year and the juvenile becomes ineligible for a licence until 25 years of age

It is mandatory to have a motor insurance as per the Transport Department. The fines for not carrying valid car insurance include - ₹2000 and/or 3 months in imprisonment, community service, for a first-time offence and ₹4000 for continuous violation. Therefore, all vehicle owners must have at least third-party insurance.

As per recent news, most of the traffic lights are not completely functional due to the negligence of the Municipal Corporation of Yamuna Nagar. This has enhanced the traffic jams in most of the places in the district.

Another news said that individuals were forced to park their vehicles on roads as parking arrangements were missing in Yamuna Nagar. Vehicle owners parked their vehicles haphazardly on congested roads, causing traffic jams and inconvenience to commuters.

Last year news confirmed the traffic police in Yamuna Nagar district issued 3795 challans to vehicle owners for violating traffic rules.

To curb all these traffic issues and decongest roads and reduce accidents, Yamuna Nagar police have taken strict measures. Like they restricted the entry of vehicles loaded with mining material and sugarcane into these places.
