National Highway 64 is a highway passing from Ahmedabad to Dandi in Gujarat. This highway was a part of the old National Highway 228 but was delinked in 2011 to preserve its heritage nature.

This was the route taken by Mahatma Gandhi on his historic Salt March in 1930 to trigger the Civil Disobedience Movement. In this article, we will learn about NH 64, its routes, length, places to visit around it, and many more.

States Falling Under National Highway 64 (NH 64)

National Highway 64 runs through the following Indian states of Gujarat, connecting Dandi and Ahmedabad.

Entry and Exit Point of National Highway 64

National Highway 64 starts from Ahmedabad, north end, and terminates at Dandi, south end. Thus, the entry point of this highway is Ahmedabad and the exit point is Dandi.

Different vehicles are allowed to travel on national highways. National Highway 64 allows the following vehicles to avail on its route:

• M1 category vehicles (vehicles with not more than eight seats along with the driver’s seat)
• M2 and M3 category vehicles (vehicles for passengers with nine or more seats considering the driver's seat)
• All N-category vehicles (vehicles for goods carriage)
• Quadricycles
• Three-wheeled vehicles
• Motorcycles

Given below are the speed limits set for vehicles travelling on National Highway 64:

• Motorcycles: 80 km per hour
• Quadricycle: 60 km per hour
• Three-wheeled vehicles: 50 km per hour
• Motor vehicles with not more than eight seats in addition to the driver’s seat used to carry passengers: 100 km per hour
• Motor vehicles having nine or more seats in addition to the driver’s seat used to carry passengers: 90 km per hour
• Motor vehicles used to carry goods: 80 km per hour

As National Highway 64 passes only through the state of Gujarat, visitors should make sure to visit the following famous places:

Be sure to keep in mind the following things while travelling through National Highway 64:

• Maintain the speed limit while travelling on NH64 as the route is quite congested.

• Do not overtake other vehicles frequently while driving on this route. Notice the speed of the vehicle you are trying to overtake.

• Take small breaks in between while you are driving through this highway. This helps in getting rid of fatigue and improves concentration also.
