National Highway 9 starts at its NH 7 junction in Malout, Punjab and ends at Askot in the state of Uttarakhand. Thus, its starting point is Malout and its ending point is Askot near the Indo-Nepal border.

However, the maximum speed limit for commercial vehicles including auto rickshaws remains restricted to 40 kilometres per hour.
