How to Download e-PAN Card Online Using NSDL & UTIITSL?

An e-PAN card is a computerised version of the PAN (Permanent Account Number) card used for financial purposes in India. This document can be obtained online from the Income Tax Department and is as legal and valid as the physical PAN card.

An e-PAN card is a digital form of the PAN Card, which the Income Tax Department of India grants. It is as good as the physical one and can be used in any transaction where the physical PAN is acceptable. The e-PAN usually comes in electronic form and is sent as an attachment in PDF format. It can be printed if required.

To apply for an e-PAN, it is important to remember the following:

1. It is mandatory to possess an Aadhar card. 

2. The information filled in the Aadhaar Card should be accurate. 

3. Ensure that the mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar Card. 

4. You should not already have a PAN. 

5. Ideally, you should be an individual taxpayer. 

6. You should be an Indian national.

An e-PAN card may be applied for through an online application; follow the steps below:

Step 1: Head to the official Income Tax India e-filing website.

Step 2: Make sure your mobile number is registered on your Aadhar card.

Step 3: Now, click on the Instant e-Pan option and proceed with ‘Get new e-PAN’.

Step 4: Fill out the details concerning the Aadhar Card in the Aadhar e-KYC.

Step 5: Next, type the OTP sent to the registered mobile number after entering the Aadhar number.

Step 6: Upload a scanned copy of your signature on white paper.

Step 7: Once you have filled out all the details correctly, you will receive a 15-digit acknowledgement number on your registered mobile number.

Step 1: Log into the Protean eGov portal and click on ‘Apply Now’. 

Step 2: Now, choose ‘New PAN – Indian Citizen (Form 49A)’.

Step 3: Select ‘Individual’ for the ‘Category’.

Step 4: Enter all the information corresponding to your Aadhaar Card.

Step 5: When asked ‘Whether a Physical PAN Card is required?’ choose “No’.

Step 6: Sign up, submit the required documents as indicated, and complete the necessary payments.

Step 7: An acknowledgement number will be sent to your email ID or mobile number so you can track the application's status.

Step 8: The e-PAN will be delivered to the email address once your PAN is allotted.

Step 1: Head to the UTIITSL PAN portal. 

Step 2: Click on ‘PAN Card Services’.

Step 3: Under PAN services, select ‘PAN Card for Indian Citizen/NRI.

Step 4: Choose ‘Apply For New PAN Card (Form 49A).

Step 5: Provide your details accurately as per your Aadhaar Card.

Step 6: Upload the necessary documents and make the payment as required. 

Step 7: You will receive a 15-digit acknowledgement number to track the application status. 

Step 8: Once your PAN is allotted, the e-PAN will be sent to you via the provided email address.

To download your PAN Card, you will need the following documents:

1. Your updated Aadhaar Card.

2. Documentation updates like addresses of Aadhaar, utility bills, voter IDs, etc.

Download e-PAN via UTIITSL:

For those who want to apply through UTIITSL and wish to download their e-PAN, you can follow the steps below:

Step 1: Begin by accessing the Official Website.

Step 2: On ‘Download e-PAN ’, click ‘Click to Download’. 

Step 3: Provide details such as PAN, Date of Birth and GST details (if any) and click on Submit.

Step 4: A confirmation code will be sent to the mobile number you entered at registration, either by text or email. 

Step 5: Enter the OTP you received on your registered mobile number. Once the process is completed, the e-PAN Card will be available for download.

Download e-PAN via Income Tax e-Filing Website:

For those who want to apply for an instant e-PAN through the Income Tax e-filing website, follow these steps: 

Step 1: The first step in the tax credit procedure is to access the official e-filing income tax website.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Instant e PAN’ option.

Step 3: Now tap on ‘ Check Status/Download PAN’.

Step 4: Choose ‘Continue.’

Step 5: Now, provide your Aadhaar number and wait for the next step.

Step 6: Register with the Aadhaar OTP and download the e-PAN once allotted.

To check the status of your e-PAN, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to the Income Tax website. 

Step  2: There, choose the ‘Instant E-PAN’ option.

Step  3: Then, they have to select ‘Check Status/Download PAN’.

Step 4: You need to provide your Aadhaar number next.

Step 5: Click the button that is labelled as ‘Continue’.

Step 6: Your status for the e-PAN will then be displayed on the screen.

The e-PAN includes the following details: 

• PAN Number  

• Name 

• Date of Birth 

• Father’s Name 

• Gender 

• Photo 

• Barcode 

• Signature

Here are the steps to follow to download the e-PAN card form:

Step 1: You may visit the official website of Protean eGov Technologies Limited to get Form 49A to fill out for Indian citizens and Form 49AA for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).

Step 2: After taking a printout, fill in all the details in capital letters in the above form.

Step 3: After entering one word in each box, ensure that there is one empty box. An asterisk (*) denotes mandatory fields.

Step 4: Add a photograph in the box as indicated. Do not fold the photograph or use any fasteners such as staples or paper clips.

Step 5: Provide the Assessing Officer (AO) code, AO number, and AO type.

Step 6: Place an impression of your left thumb on the box provided on the left side of this form. Make sure that the signature does not extend beyond the photograph part of the document.

Step 7: If you affix a thumb impression, get it certified by the Gazetted Officer or Magistrate under his stamp and seal.

Step 8: In Column 14 of the form, provide all the necessary data about the Representative Assessee to successfully apply.
