How to Pay PAN Card Fee Online?
If you are applying for a PAN card online, here are the steps to follow to pay the fees for a PAN card online:
Step 1: Log in to the official NSDL website.
Step 2: Fill out the form no. 49A with the required information.
Step 3: Validate the CAPTCHA code and click on submit.
Step 4: Pay the processing fee and collect the acknowledgement receipt.
Step 5: You can use the Aadhaar OTP authentication to e-sign the application or send the documents and application to the NSDL within 15 days of online application.
Step 6: You will receive the PAN card in 15 working days after the verification process is over.
How to Pay PAN Card Fee Offline?
You can visit any PAN centre to pay the fees offline. Follow these steps to continue:
Step 1: Collect the PAN card application form from the UTIITSL office or agents at the PAN centre or TIN-FC. You can also download Form 49A or the PAN card application from the Protean TIN website.
Step 2: Fill out the form with the necessary details, ID proof, and other documents.
Step 3: While submitting the documents and application form to the Protean PAN centre or TIN-FC, complete the payment procedure for the processing fee.
Step 4: You will receive the PAN card in 15 working days at your address.

Fees for New/Reprinted PAN Card for Individuals in India & Abroad
Individuals may need to change their PAN card or reprint the existing PAN card if it is damaged or lost. Indian residents and NRIs can apply for a new or reprinted PAN card under certain circumstances, but the charges will vary.
For individuals residing in India, the applicable charge for a new or reprinted PAN card is ₹110. It includes a processing fee of ₹93 and a Goods and Services tax of 18%. Applicants outside India must pay an application charge of ₹1,020 for a reprinted PAN card. It includes an application fee of ₹93 and ₹771 for dispatch charges and 18% Goods and Services tax.
What is the Fees for e-PAN Card?
Individuals residing in India need to pay a total amount of ₹66 for the e-PAN card. It includes a fee of ₹56 and a GST of ₹10.
What are the Modes of Payment for PAN Charges?
Depending on the communication address of the PAN applicant, the following payment modes for PAN card charges are applicable in India:
Applicants with Communication Addresses within India
If your communication address is within India, you can pay the PAN card charges via Demand Drafts, Credit, or Debit Cards. You can also pay the fees for a PAN card online through Net Banking. However, if you are paying with a credit/debit card, you must pay a nominal extra charge of 2% to the bank.
In the case of Net Banking, you need to pay the service tax and ₹4 for a surcharge above the PAN card fee. If you are paying through Demand Drafts, make sure it is in favour of “NSDL PAN” and payable in Mumbai.
Applicants with Communication Addresses outside India
If your communication address is outside India, you can pay the PAN charges through Demand Drafts, credit cards, or debit cards. As mentioned above, credit or debit card payments charge an extra 2% plus service tax, and the bank can also impose taxes on PAN card fees. Besides, while paying through DD, issue it in favour of "NSDL-PAN," payable in Mumbai only.
What People are Permitted to Make PAN Payments on Behalf of Others?
As per the Government rules, others can make PAN card fee payments on your behalf. However, the people may vary depending on the applicant type.
HUF (Hindu Undivided Families): The Karta or Head of the Family of a HUF can make the payment.
Associations or Trusts: As per the IT Act, the authorised signatory can only pay the PAN card fee for local authorities, trusts, associations, etc.
Firms/Companies: Any partner or director of the company or firm is permitted to pay the PAN card fee on behalf of the company.
Individual Applicant: If the applicant cannot make payment himself, an immediate family member can.
Current Status of PAN Fee Refund in 2024
It can be rejected if an applicant fails to follow the PAN application guidelines or submits an incomplete or incorrect application. In such cases, you cannot get a refund but can reapply with the same payment after making the required corrections.
