Functions of RTO Offices in Faridabad
RTO Faridabad comes under the Government of Haryana Transport Department. Some of the functions are as follows:
- Registration of motor vehicles
- Renewal of registration certificate
- Updating address in RC
- Transfer of RC
- Renewal of registration card
- Granting national permits to the stage carriers
- Issuance of driving and conductor licence
- Making schemes for stage carrier
- Issuance of licences to driving school
- To grant permission to check pollution under check centres
- Implementation of road safety measures
- Issuance of fitness certificate to the commercial vehicles
- Collection of road taxes and other penalties
- To ensure the enforcement of the provisions regarding offences by motor vehicles.
Objectives of RTO Faridabad
The reason for setting RTOs in every district has its purpose. The objective of the same are as follows:
- To ensure the safety of the citizens using the road network in the city
- To provide environment-friendly transport services in the city
- Upgradation of Human resources and infrastructure in the transport sector of the city
- Integration of different modes of transport
- To provide a fair regulatory framework for the transport sector
- To generate revenues for the transport sector
Types of Driving Licence issued in RTO Faridabad
- Licence for LMV: The eligibility to drive cars, jeeps, three-wheelers, van, etc comes with this licence. These vehicles come under Light Motor Vehicles.
- Licence for Heavy commercial vehicle: The licence holder of this is eligible to drive heavy, goods, or passenger vehicles that are used for commercial purposes.
- Two-wheeler with gear: The legal permit to ride bikes and scooters with gear. This falls under MCWG (Motor Cycle with Gear)
- Two-wheeler without gear: The licence holder can ride two-wheelers that come under MCWOG (Motor Cycle without Gears) such as moped bikes, scooters without gears, etc.
- Motorcycle with en engine capacity of 50cc or less: The form of licence in which an applicant as young as 16-year-old or above can apply. The application for this type of licence requires legal consent of the parents or guardians of the applicant.
Note: Auto rickshaw drivers and Cab drivers do not need separate Commercial vehicle licence to operate legally. Their personal LMV licence is enough to drive legally.
Types of Vehicle Registration in RTO Faridabad
The two types of vehicle registration offered in RTO Faridabad are:
- Temporary Vehicle Registration: This is issued by the vehicle dealer when a new vehicle is purchased and can be used within the first 7 days from the date of delivery of the vehicle with an extension up to a month
- Permanent Vehicle Registration: The valid permanent registration is a must for every owner of the vehicle. The applicant must apply for permanent registration before the temporary licence expires.
