Bastar is a district in the state of Chattisgarh. It has its district headquarters in Jagdalpur. This area is popularly known as Dakshin Kaushal because of its exotic forests and tribal culture and serves as the cultural capital of the state.

• For three-wheelers: ₹15000 - ₹60000 (as per the seating capacity and vehicle’s age)

• For new four-wheelers: 5% - 6% (depending on the cost of the vehicle)

• Charges for driving without a licence: ₹5000; imprisonment for 1 month

• Charges for rash driving and overspeeding: ₹1000 to ₹4000

• Charges for drinking and driving: ₹10000 for first-time offenders, ₹15000 for repetition 

• Charges for obstructing the path of emergency vehicles: ₹1000; imprisonment for up to 6 months

News was published on the collision of a truck with an auto-rickshaw that resulted in an accident causing the death of 7 school children. The accident took place in the Kankar district of Chhattisgarh in the Bastar region. Students who were victims of the accident were between the ages of 5 years to 8 years.

Another news article reported about an accident between a car and a passenger bus that resulted in the death of 4 men near the Metawada village on NH-30. The bus was heading towards Jagdalpur from Raipur when it collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. Four passengers inside the car died on the spot and one of them suffered serious injuries. No passengers on the bus suffered any injuries. Later, police arrested the bus driver who had fled from the scene.
