RTO Narayanpur

Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh was carved out of the Bastar district to make it a separate district in 2007. This is the administrative headquarters in the state that houses several people. There is only one Regional Transport Office in Narayanpur that looks after the transportation of these people. It is known by the RTO code CG-21.

The Regional Transport Office in Narayanpur is responsible for maintaining the rules and regulations provided by Motor Vehicle Act and state guidelines. 

• Carry vehicle registration and vehicle RC renewal

• Issue driving licence

• Provide driving permits to tourists

• Check the validity of motor vehicle insurance

• Authorise vehicle fitness certificates post-vehicle inspection

• Collect road tax and motor vehicle tax as per the act

Narayanpur RTO issues the following types of driving licence:

• Permanent driving licence
• Driving licence for heavy motor vehicles or commercial vehicles
• Learner’s driving licence
• International driving licence

Two types of vehicle registration certificate that Narayanpur RTO issues are:

• Permanent Vehicle Registration

In Chhattisgarh, the same vehicle registration charges are applicable in all the districts. Therefore, RTO Narayanpur would follow the charges set by RTO Chhattisgarh. 

• Registration Charges: ₹600 for all cars irrespective of their values

• Temporary Registration Certificate: ₹1200-₹1500 for a validity of one month

• Number Plate Charges: ₹1000

• Hypothecation Charges: ₹1500 for a vehicle that is on loan

Road Tax is a charge that every registered vehicle owner has to pay to contribute towards the State infrastructural development. The Chhattisgarh road tax rates are the same all over the state.

• For two-wheelers: 4% of the vehicle’s cost (for new vehicles), ₹6000-₹30,000 (for older vehicles)

• For three-wheelers: ₹15,000 to ₹30,000 

• For four-wheelers: 5% of the vehicle cost for motor cars up to ₹5 Lakhs, 6% of the vehicle cost for motor cars above ₹5 Lakhs (for newer vehicles), ₹50,000 to ₹6,00,000 (for older vehicles)

• For commercial vehicles: Commercial vehicles do not fall under any specific tax amount; tax is calculated based on per seat, per quarter, at ₹150 /seat per quarter.

Those who disobey traffic rules face critical consequences. This includes paying for those traffic fines and imprisonment for months. 

• Drunk driving: ₹10,000 for the first time, ₹15,000 for the subsequent time

• Driving without a helmet: ₹1000 and/or cancellation of licence for 3 months

• Not following traffic rules: ₹500-₹1000

• Driving without a seatbelt: ₹1000

• Driving a vehicle in poor condition: ₹1500

• Driving without a permit: ₹10,000 and/or imprisonment for 6 months for the first offence, ₹15,000 and/or imprisonment for a year for a subsequent offence

• Driving without vehicle RC: ₹2000-₹5000 for the first time and ₹5000-₹10,000 for the next time

According to the Motor Vehicle Act, it is mandatory to have motor insurance for operating a vehicle in public spaces. Individuals for whom insurance is expensive can get a third-party liability cover. If anyone is found driving without insurance driving around, they may have to pay a significant amount of penalties that range between ₹2000 and ₹4000.

Times of India reported a recent road accident in Narayanpur where seven children died when a truck hit their auto. According to witnesses, it was the auto-rickshaw's fault to change lanes suddenly.

Another news as per ETV Bharat states road the traffic conditions on Chhota Dongar, and Narayanpur roads are in question due to the movement of heavy vehicles in the Amadai mines. This is causing severe damage to the roads, which in turn is causing traffic problems in this neighbourhood.
