Kabirdham is a municipality having immense possibilities for tourism. The RTO office located here functions under the Government of Chhattisgarh Ministry of Road Transport. The RTO code of this place is CG09 and the primary function of Kabirdham RTO is to maintain an extensive database of all motor vehicles registered here.

Two-Wheelers:

• Motor Vehicles (between 200cc to 325cc): ₹20000 (5 to 15 years), ₹10000 (over 15 years)

• Old Motor Vehicles (over 70kg till 200cc): ₹15000 (5 to 15 years), ₹8000 (over 15 years)

• Old Motor Vehicles (below 70kg): ₹8000 (5 to 15 years), ₹6000 (over 15 years)

Four-Wheelers:

• New Vehicles (costing up to 5 lakhs till more than 5 lakhs): 5% to 6% of the vehicle’s price

• Old Vehicles (below 800 kgs to above 2000 kgs): ₹1 lakh to ₹6 lakhs (vehicle age 5 to 15 years), ₹50000 to ₹3 lakhs ( vehicle age above 15 years)

Commercial Vehicles:

The state tax for a cab is calculated at ₹150 per seat per quarter, and if the cab has an all-India permit, then the payment is ₹200 per seat per quarter.

The penalties in Kabirdham are quite hefty and similar throughout Chhattisgarh. The new traffic fines followed in Kabirdham include:

• Driving/Riding Without a Permit: ₹10000 and/or 6 months to 1 year in prison

Yes, it is mandatory to have a motor insurance when driving on Indian roads. Car insurance protects you from third-party liabilities and allows personal accident coverage.  However, if one fails to produce valid car insurance, they will have to pay ₹2000 and/or 3 months in prison, community service as a fine, for a first-time offence and ₹4000 for repeated offence.

News confirmed, about 10 months back an uncontrollable truck leading from Rajmahal Chowk entered a house in Kabirdham breaking the walls of the house and causing a massive stampede. This also led to traffic jams.

Last year, in Kabirdham a bike rider died due to a major collision with a truck. However, the police chased and caught the vehicle.
