Mahisagar RTO provides 2 types of vehicle registration certificate under the jurisdiction of the Transport Department of the State. These are:

Mahisagar RTO takes a few charges from the citizens for several types of registration processes. These charges are as follows:

• Number Plate Fees: ₹230 to ₹400
• Vehicle Registration Fees: ₹600
• Temporary Registration Fees: ₹1200 to ₹1500 (up to 1 month)
• Parking Fee/State Development Fees: ₹2000 (cars under ₹4 lakhs), 4000 (above ₹4 lakhs)
• Hypothecation Fees: ₹1500

Mahisagar RTO follows the Gujarat road tax of the State Transport Department, depending on the vehicle type, capacity and age. These taxes are as follows:

• Motor Vehicles (older than 15 years): 1% of vehicle’s value
• Two-Wheelers (older than 8 years): 15% of vehicle’s value
• Two-Wheelers (new or up to 8 years old): 6% of vehicle’s value
• New Four-Wheelers: 6% of vehicle’s value
• Commercial Vehicles: 6% of vehicle’s value

Mahisagar RTO imposes the same rate as per traffic fines in Gujarat under the Transport Commissioner of the state. A few of them include:

• Driving With No helmet: ₹500
• Driving/Riding With No licence: ₹2000 to ₹3000
• Overloading Two-Wheelers: ₹100
• Blocking Emergency Vehicles: ₹1000
• Driving Without a Seatbelt: ₹500
• Driving on Wrong Sides: ₹1500 to ₹5000
• Drunk driving: ₹10000 and/or 6 months in prison and ₹15000 and/or 2 years of imprisonment for the repetition
• Using mobiles while driving: ₹500 for first-time offenders and ₹1000 for subsequent offenders
• Breaching pollution norms: ₹1000 (three-wheelers and lightweight two-wheelers) and ₹3000 (others)
• Disregarding traffic lights: ₹1000 to ₹5000 and/or 6 months to 1 year of imprisonment along with licence seizure

Yes, it is mandatory to have motor insurance. Thus, one must acquire third-party insurance in Mahisagar while driving on the streets. Otherwise, the RTO officials of Mahisagar will charge a fine of ₹2000 for the first offence and ₹4000 for the subsequent violation of this same offence according to the Indian Road Rules.

A recent report of 22nd February 2023, states that 5 were killed and 15 injured as a Tempo collided with a car in the Mahisagar district of Gujarat.

Another recent report confirms a speeding car rammed into the dancing 'Baraatis' during a wedding procession leaving 1 dead, and 20 injured near Balasinor in the Mahisagar district of Gujarat.

As road accidents are increasing every day with the increase of cars on the roads, the traffic police department of Mahisagar distributed pamphlets with rules and clauses of road safety. It was conducted on the instructions of Mahisagar District Police Chief Rakesh Barot, Marg Darshan and others to raise awareness of road safety campaign and minimise road accidents.
