RTO Aravalli performs a multitude of functions, such as:

• Conducting driving tests and issuing different types of driving licences
• Issuing of vehicle fitness certificate
• Registering new motor vehicles
• Issuing of a NOC for vehicle registration in any other state
• Developing road transportation
• Collecting and levying of road taxes
• Checking the insurance coverage of vehicles on the road
• Transferring car ownership

The different types of driving licence that Aravalli RTO issues to its citizens are:

• Heavy trailer licence for those already in possession of a heavy vehicle driving licence
• Heavy goods vehicle licence
• Two-wheeler motorcycle licence with engine capacity of 50cc and less
• Light motor vehicle licence with engine capacity of 50cc and more
• Without a gear motor vehicle licence with any engine capacity
• Light motor vehicle licence for non-transport purposes

Aravalli RTO provides the following types of vehicle registration certificate:

1. Permanent Registration

2. Temporary Registration

You will receive a registration number after successfully completing the vehicle registration process. This registration number is unique and is the number that goes on your vehicle’s licence plate.

The charges for vehicle registration that Aravalli RTO implies is:

• Registration Certificate Charges for New Vehicles: ₹600
• Issue of Number Plate Charges: ₹230 to ₹400, stays same for HSRP number plates
• State Development/Parking Fee Charges: ₹2000 to ₹4000
• Charges for Temporary  Registration: ₹1200 to ₹1500 up to one month
• Duplicate Registration Certificate Charges: ₹1500 if a car is bought on loan

Aravalli RTO follows the same rules as implied under the Gujarat Road Tax. These are as follows:

• For 2-Wheeler Vehicles: 6% of the cost of a vehicle
• For 3-Wheeler Vehicles: 2.5% to 6% of the cost of a vehicle
• For 4-Wheeler Vehicles: 6% of the cost of a vehicle
• For Goods Vehicles of GVW up to 7500 Kgs: 6% of the cost of a vehicle
• For Tractors of Commercial Use: 3% of the cost of a vehicle

Not following the traffic rules in India, or in Aravalli, Gujarat will incur the following penalties;

• Not Wearing a Seatbelt While Driving: ₹500
• Not Wearing a Helmet While Riding: ₹500
• Driving on the Wrong Side of the Road: ₹1500 to ₹5000
• Absence of the Right Driving Licence: ₹2000 to ₹3000
• Breaching of Pollution Guidelines: ₹1000 to ₹3000
• Not Abiding by Traffic Lights: ₹1000 to ₹5000 and 6 months to 1-year imprisonment/licence seizure

As per the revised traffic rules under Motor Vehicle Act 2019, and Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 it is mandatory to have motor insurance. If found driving without insurance, RTO Aravalli draws challan having penalty rates from ₹2000 to ₹4000.

As per a report published on 2^nd September 2022, 6 people were dead and 7 were left in serious injury after a car ran and hit them. The people who got hit were on their way to Ambaji temple. In the incident, the car driver also died. Even though the injured people were taken to the hospital, none of them won their fight for survival.

Another incident took place on 22 February 2023, on the Modasa (Aravalli) – Himmatnagar highway. A serious collision took place between a car and a bullet, killing 3 people from the same family. Multiple numbers of such accidents are taking place on this highway killing more and more people.

On 12 January 2023, the 33^rd road safety campaign was undertaken at Modasa, Aravalli. The entire period of the campaign was from 11 January to 17 January 2023. It was put into action under the chairmanship of their district collector. The program aimed to conduct teachings to reduce road accidents, and to make citizens aware of traffic guidelines, and their importance.

In undertaking a campaign on road safety guidelines, the government of Gujarat has made a draft plan to introduce road safety lessons in schools. The objective is to inculcate road safety teachings in the curriculum of social studies, as a supplementary chapter. The implementation of the plan also includes sensitising children’s parents and guardians.
