RTO Mahesana

Mahesana is a district in Gujarat. It is a very popular educational hub for students. Many students from different states travel here to avail education. The GJ-02 Mahesana RTO maintains and monitors all transport-related activities in the district of Mahesana. 

Mahesana RTO works under the provisions of the Transport Department of Gujarat. It is also responsible for maintaining the database of all the registered vehicles in Mahesana.

Mahesana RTO follows the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988 to perform the following activities:

• Issues and renews registration certificates for motor vehicles.

• Collects Motor Vehicle Tax as per the Motor Vehicles Act, of 1988.

• Issues learner's permits or driving licences and conducts driving tests, and renews or duplicates driving licences. 

• Inspects vehicles for fitness certification. It also offers a Pollution Under Control certificate.

• Issues various vehicle permits such as all-India tourist permits, national and inter-state permits for commercial vehicles, permits for passenger-carrying vehicles, and International driving permits.

Mahesana RTO provides many types of driving licence. These driving licences include:

• Commercial Driving Licence

• Permanent Driving Licence

• Learner’s Driving Licence

• International Driving Licence

The GJ-02 Mahesana RTO offers mainly two types of vehicle registration certificates:

• Permanent Registration

• Temporary Registration

Here are all the vehicle registration charges you will have to pay at the GJ-02 Mahesana RTO:

• Hypothecation charges: ₹1,500 for a loan-bought vehicle.

• Temporary registration: ₹1,500 for a single month.

• Permanent registration: ₹600 for all cars

• FastTag Charges: ₹600       

As per the Motor Vehicles Act, of 1988, every registered vehicle has to pay road tax to drive in any state or union territory of India. The rates of Gujarat Road Tax include:

• Commercial goods vehicles with a carrying capacity of up to 7500 Kgs: 6% of the vehicle’s price

• Two-wheelers: 6% of the vehicle’s price

• Three-wheelers: 2 to 6% of the vehicle’s price

• Four-Wheeler Vehicles: 6% of the vehicle’s price

If you don't follow traffic rules in Mahesana you will be charged a fine based on the violation you committed. The traffic fines vary from ₹100 to ₹25000. 

• Driving unregistered vehicles: ₹1000 for bikes and scooters, ₹2000 for three-wheelers, ₹3000 for four-wheelers, ₹5000 for heavy vehicles such as trucks and buses.

• Obstructing emergency vehicles: ₹1000

• Breaching pollution norms: ₹1,000 for bikes and ₹3,000 for every other vehicle.

• Traffic lights violation: ₹1,000- ₹5,000 depending on the number of offences committed. 

It is mandatory to have motor insurance; driving without insurance could lead to a massive dent in your pocket. First of all, driving without insurance could lead to a traffic fine of up to ₹4000 and secondly, you will not get any coverage in case of an accident. So, try to have comprehensive insurance coverage or at least have third-party insurance.

In October 2022, a report was out saying India’s Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for various developmental works of more than ₹2890 crore at Mehsana. This project will reduce travel time and smoothen the movement between Ahmedabad and Mahesana. The Sabarmati-Jagudan-Mehsana Gauge project covers 12 Big Bridges, 93 Small bridges and 16 Railway stations.
