Road tax in Junagadh follows the Gujarat Road Tax and charges. Auto-rickshaws and agricultural vehicles are devoid of paying any road tax. All other vehicles are liable to pay the following respective road taxes:

• 2-Wheeler Vehicles: 6% of vehicle’s billing amount

• 3-Wheeler Vehicles: 2.5% to 6% of vehicle’s billing amount

• 4-Wheeler Vehicles: 6% of vehicle’s billing amount

• Goods Vehicles of GVW up to 7500 kgs: 6% of vehicle’s billing amount

• Tractors of Commercial Use: 3% of vehicle’s billing amount

Traffic penalty charges in Junagadh are the same as those laid under traffic fines in Gujarat. If you do not follow traffic rules in Junagadh, as per the crime, you are liable to pay the given penalties:

Yes, it is mandatory to have motor insurance when driving in Junagadh. As laid by the Motor Vehicle Act, of 1988, all vehicle owners of India must insure their cars/motorcycles against third-party insurance. The penalty charges range from ₹2000 on two-wheelers, to ₹4000 on four-wheelers.

There had been a report about a girl dying on her way to an exam at Bhesan road on 10th April 2022. The girl was riding behind her uncle's motorcycle when it was hit by a truck. In the incident, the girl was spot-dead, and her uncle was left with several severe injuries. 

Another road accident report of 12th September 2022, marks the death of an 18th-month-old girl and a private bus driver. Besides, those six to eight people went through major injuries. The other remaining 55 passengers onboard the bus were sent to hospitals for further treatment. 

On 11th January 2023 Junagadh SP Raviteja Wasam Setty paved the way for the introduction of the Traffic Awareness Week program. The aim of the campaign was to educate citizens about traffic rules and reduce the number of road accidents. The program had the following constituents:

• Road safety rally from Zanzarda to a circle of Jhansi

• The campaign also saw participation by city organisations

• People were made aware of traffic and road safety guidelines
