RTO Bellary

Bellary is a district in Karnataka. It is known as the ‘Steel City of India’ because it has the highest number of iron ore reserves in the country. Besides, it is also a major tourist attraction spot due to the Bellary Fort located on top of Fort Hill. As it receives a number of tourists every year, traffic maintenance is of utmost importance. The RTO ensures free-flowing traffic and proper road administration to aid both tourists and locals.

Various functions of RTO Bellary are mentioned below:

• To ensure the enforcement of rules and regulations under the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988 and the Central Motor Vehicle Act of 1989. 

• To levy and collect taxes in accordance with the Motor Vehicles Act 1988. 

• To conduct driving tests and issue driving licences; to renew driving licences.

• To issue permanent and temporary vehicle registrations.

• To enforce measures to control pollution caused by vehicles. 

• To conduct vehicle fitness tests and issue fitness certificates.

• Temporary Registration Charges: ₹1200 to ₹1500, temporary registration is valid for a month 

RTO Bellary follows the road tax charges as levied by the Karnataka government. The Karnataka Road Tax charges are mentioned below:

• For new two-wheelers: 10% to 12% depending on the price of the vehicle

• For old two-wheelers: 25% to 93% depending on the age of the vehicle

• For new four-wheelers: 13% to 18% depending on the price of the vehicle

• Four old four-wheelers: 25% to 93% depending on the age of the vehicle 

The government of Karnataka does not levy different road taxes charges for private and commercial vehicles.

• Charges for driving an unauthorised vehicle: ₹5000

• Charges for driving without a licence: Between ₹1000 to ₹5000

• Charges for driving by a minor: ₹5000

• Charges for driving a vehicle without a number plate: ₹1000 for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers

• Charges for blocking the path of emergency vehicles: ₹1000

• Charges for using a cell phone while driving: ₹1000

Yes, it is mandatory to have motor insurance while driving in Bellary. Not having proper vehicle insurance will lead to the vehicle owners being subject to penalties. This may also lead to imprisonment. 

Penalty charges for driving without proper insurance are between ₹1000 to ₹4000.

As per report, 3 people from a family died in a bike accident and 1 of them sustained injuries. The man was driving a bike with his family when a truck hit the bike causing all of the passengers to fall. According to the police, the accident happened because of rash driving by the truck driver. 

A report was registered against the truck driver and an investigation was carried out. Moreover, it was discovered that none of the passengers were wearing a helmet. 3 including the father, mother and son died on the spot while the daughter was taken to the hospital.

In another report an 18-year-old girl was hit by an over speeding car near the office of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Bangalore’s Ganganagar area. A report was filed against the car driver and an investigation was carried out with the help of the CCTV footage in the area.
