RTO Raichur

Raichur is an important commercial centre in the state of Karnataka. Every year, Raichur fort attracts significant tourism from domestic as well as international locations. The RTO office at Raichur bears the code KA-36 and maintains traffic infrastructure and regulations in the district. • Two-wheelers: ₹300

• Three-wheelers: ₹600 - ₹1000 

• LMV/Four wheelers: ₹600 - ₹1000

• Medium goods vehicle: ₹1000

• Heavy goods motor vehicle: ₹1500

• Imported bikes: ₹2500

• Imported cars: ₹5000

The RTO office of Raichur fulfils the duty of collecting road tax from all the registered vehicles in the district. Here is the applicable Karnataka road tax:

• Four-wheelers: 13% to 18% of the price of the vehicle

• Two-wheelers: 10% to 12% of the vehicle price

• Driving without a seatbelt: ₹500

Yes, it is mandatory to have motor insurance when driving any vehicle in Raichur, Karnataka. As per the law of India, all two/three/four wheeler vehicles must have at least third-party insurance on the road. If you are caught driving a vehicle without insurance, you are liable to pay a fine that ranges between ₹1000 - ₹4000. 

According to a news report from The Times of India, a driver from the Raichur district was fined by the court. The tractor driver was fined ₹15000 under the Motor Vehicles Act for letting a minor drive his tractor.

As per the Motor Vehicles Act, a driver must have a commercial driving licence to drive heavy vehicles such as trucks and tractors. Based on footage from social media, police nabbed the driver and presented him in front of the court. 

The court subsequently found him guilty of flouting multiple traffic laws. He was fined ₹15000 for letting the minor drive his vehicle. Further, the tractor driver was also fined an additional ₹500 for having a defective number plate.

As per The Hindu’s report, four people died in 2 road accidents in the Raichur district. A family of 3 drowned and washed away in the Tungabhadra Left Branch Canal after their car overturned. In another incident, two men travelling on a motorcycle died after colliding with a bus. The biker riders met with an accident near Jawalagera village when they crashed into a government bus. As a result, the men died on the spot.     

Raichur police issued a traffic safety advisory on the official website of the police force. The thorough tips from the traffic police are directed to create awareness about correct traffic behaviour. 

On the occasion of National Road Safety Week, Government Degree College in Raichur organised a program. The program was hosted to create awareness about traffic rules and regulations in the district. The local police superintendent noted that most traffic accidents are caused due to traffic rule violations. He further emphasised the importance of traffic awareness among common people.
