RTO Office in Mysore

Renowned for its sculpture and handicrafts, Mysore is one of the bustling industrial centres of Karnataka. There are 3 RTO offices in the Mysore district, KA-09, KA-45, and KA-55, which regulate transport law in Mysore. These offices maintain a database of all the vehicles in the district and further implement transport regulations and laws in the region.

The RTO office in Mysore is responsible for carrying out transport-related duties and responsibilities. It includes:

RTOs in the Mysore region are responsible for collecting road tax from the vehicles registered in the district of Karnataka. Following are some of the Karnataka road tax charges for Mysore: 

• Two-wheelers: 10% to 12% of the vehicle cost

• Four-wheelers: 13% to 18% of the vehicle cost

If you violate traffic rules in Mysore, you will be liable to pay the penalty. The Karnataka traffic fines in Mysore are as follows:

• Using mobile while driving: ₹5000

• Overspeeding: ₹1000 - ₹2000

• Driving without a seatbelt: ₹500

• Driving without insurance: ₹1000 (two-wheelers ₹2000 (other vehicles)

• Driving without a valid Driving Licence: ₹1000 (two/three wheelers) ₹2000 (LMV) ₹5000 (other vehicles)

• More than two people on two-wheelers: ₹2000

• Driving while intoxicated: First offence – ₹10000 and/or six months imprisonment, and the repeated offence will lead to ₹15000 and/or two years imprisonment

• Blocking emergency vehicle on the road: ₹1000

It is mandatory to have motor insurance when driving any two or three-wheeled vehicle on the road. As per the law of India, all vehicles must have at least third-party insurance. In case you are found driving without insurance, the penalty range between ₹1000 - ₹4000. 

As per a report, protests on the Bengaluru-Mysore expressway have recently caused severe traffic jams. Locals blocked the expressway demanding an underpass under the highway. The blockade obstructed traffic movement and caused a two km-long traffic jam on the expressway. The protest lasted for some time before the traffic was diverted by the police. 

Another news reported the death of an ex Intelligence officer in Mysore after being hit by a car. Another serial road accident was reported on the streets of Mysore. The accident took place when a truck collided with a goods vehicle. The collision led to the death of an auto rickshaw driver. 

In an event, the DC of Mysore pointed out the importance of road safety measures. He noted that people should be made aware of ideal traffic behaviours. Mysore's DC instructed the police department to find out the reasons behind traffic accidents and take preventative measures. He further asked the officials to hold a meeting every 15 days to maintain road safety awareness.

Manipal hospitals and Mysuru City Traffic Police have joined hands to organise a road safety walkathon. Hundreds of traffic officials and hospital staff participated in the event to create awareness about road safety.

Recently, a bike rally was organised to create awareness about road safety. Jeeva Raksha Trust associated with Rotary Mysore and Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement to organise Road Safety Bikeathon. Almost 200 bikes took part in the event with safety messages like 'wear a helmet and seat belt while driving' and 'Don't talk while driving etc.
