RTO Gulbarga

Gulbarga or Kalaburagi is a popular district in North Karnataka. This place is famous for housing several industries and is a popular destination for tourists as well. To control its traffic and road regulations Gulbarga has an RTO office. 

The code of RTO Gulbarga is KA-32 and it functions under the Transport Commissioner.

Gulbarga is formulated under Section 213(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act, of 1988. The following are the functions its offers:

• Collecting Road Tax
• Delivering and Renewing a Driving Licence

Note: It is mandatory to carry a valid driving licence to legally operate a two or four-wheeler vehicle on the roadways in India.

• Hypothecation Fees: ₹1500, if a car is purchased on loan

• Number Plate Fees: ₹230 – ₹400 

• Parking Fee/State Development Charges: ₹2000, parking fees for cars under ₹4 lakh

• Road Tax Charges for Vehicles Below ₹5 Lakh: 13%

• Vehicles Between ₹5 – ₹10 Lakh: 14%

• FasTag: ₹600 

• Cars Between ₹10 – ₹20 Lakh: 17%

• Cars Above ₹20 Lakh: 18%

Additional: Infra and Road Tax Cess figured at a rate of 11% of Calculated Road Tax

Two-Wheelers:

• 10% to 12% of car cost for new two-wheelers 

• 75% to 93% for old two-wheelers not more than 5 years

• 49% to 69% for vehicles aged between 5 years and 10 years

• 25% to 45% for vehicles aged between 10 years and 15 years

Four-Wheelers:

• 13% to 18% on the cost of the vehicle for four-wheelers 

• 75% to 93% for old two-wheelers not more than 5 years

• 49% to 69% for vehicles aged between 5 years and 10 years

• 25% to 45% for vehicles aged between 10 years and 15 years

The traffic fines in Karnataka are very strict and Gulbarga being a district in Karnataka, follows the list provided by Karnataka. So, the traffic fines in Gulbarga are:

• Drink and Drive Offence: Court fine

• Using Mobile Phone While Driving: ₹1000

• Driving/ Riding With No Valid Driving Licence: ₹1000 - ₹5000

• Reckless and Dangerous Driving/Riding: ₹1000

• Over Speeding: ₹1000 - ₹2000 

• Driving/Riding a Vehicle With No Registration: Court fine

As per the Motor Vehicle Act 2019, it is mandatory to have a motor insurance if you are driving on the roads of Gulbarga. Failing to do so can lead to a penalty of ₹1000 for a first-time offence and ₹4000 for continuous violations.

Recent news confirmed that a bus from Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation collided with a lorry in Gulbarga killing several people. This created havoc and a massive jam. 

Last year, the news conveyed that 3 youths died on the spot when the bike they were travelling on collided with a lorry near Kalaburagi district.

Another news confirmed that 2 people were killed, and 1 injured in a road accident in Gulbarga last year when the driver of the car lost control and rammed a tanker.
