The state of Telangana had 10 districts when it was formed including Hyderabad, Adilabad, Khammam, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Rangareddy and Warangal. However, 21 districts emerged on 11th October 2016 and 2 more districts were created on 17th February 2019, leading to a total 33 number of districts in the state.
The best time to visit Telangana is between November and February for tourists due to its pleasant and favourable weather for sightseeing.
The name of Telangana came from ‘Trilinga Desha’ which stands for the 'Land of Three Lingas'. This Trilinga Desha typically refers to the three ancient temples of Lord Shiva at Kaleshwaram (in Telangana), Srisailam and Draksharamam (in Andhra Pradesh). Although, some historians say the name derived from Telugu and Anagana languages owing to Tulugu and Marathi inhabitants during Nizam's rule.
