The preferred language for SMS communication needs to be set, and for doing so, the first three characters of the preferred language must be used. This facility for checking EPF balance through SMS is available in Hindi, English, Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Gujarati Malayalam, Bengali, Telugu, and Tamil.

For example, if an individual wants updates in English, the first three characters of the word ENGLISH must be used, like EPFOHO UAN ENG. Similarly, if any individual wants message updates in Marathi, then the format in which they must type is EPFOHO UAN MAR.

Umang or Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance app has been recently launched by the Electronics and IT Ministry. It is a single platform that contains various government services like gas booking, crop insurance, Aadhaar, EPF and NPS.
