Jhansi RTO Office

Jhansi lies in Bundelkhand region in Uttar Pradesh along the banks of Pahuj River and holds an important place in the history of India. This city is a populous city which makes its traffic system suffer regular congestion. However, the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) take up responsibility for public safety and monitoring the conditions.

There are various types of licences issued by Jhansi RTO based on the type and use of a vehicle. Here follows the list of the licence types: 

• Light Motor Vehicle Licence (commercial use)

• Light Motor Vehicle Licence (non-transport use)

• Light Motor Vehicle Licence (over 50cc and with gear)

• Motor Vehicle Licence (without gears)

• Two-wheeler Licence (50cc or less) 

• Heavy Passenger Motor Vehicle Licence 

• Heavy Goods Motor Vehicle Licence 

• Heavy Trailer Licence

There are 2 types of vehicle registration in Jhansi:

• Temporary 

• Permanent 

After the completion of registration, one gets a number for their vehicle’s number plate. 

There can be various types of registration charges involved with vehicle registration in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. Here follows a list of some of them: 

• Registration Charges: ₹600

• Hypothecation Charges: ₹1500 

• Temporary Registration Charges: ₹1200-₹1500

Road tax in Uttar Pradesh depends on factors like the price, type, and load-bearing capacity of a vehicle. Jhansi road tax follows the same norms as UP road tax. The following list is here to clarify it further:

For Two-wheelers

• Two-wheelers priced ₹0.20 lakh to over ₹2 lakh – 2% to 8% of the price of the vehicle

For Four-wheelers

• Four-wheelers priced ₹6 lakh to over ₹20 lakh – 3% to 9% of the price of the vehicle 

• Vehicles with load bearing capacity from below 1 ton to over 10 tonne - ₹665 to ₹3320 and more (₹470 per ton)

The penalty for not following traffic rules can result in a monetary fine and/or imprisonment. Jhansi RTO follows the structure of UP traffic fines. Here follows a short list of penalties one will face if he or she breaks traffic rules in Jhansi: 

• Drunk driving: ₹10000 and/or imprisonment for 6 months, ₹15000 and/or 2-year jail (for second-time violation) 

• Driving without a licence: ₹5000 

• Driving while holding mobile in hand: ₹5000 

• Overloading two-wheelers: ₹2000 and licence disqualification

It is mandatory to have motor insurance coverage while driving a vehicle in Jhansi. There is a fine of ₹1000 and/or imprisonment of up to 3 months for not abiding by this rule. 

This third-party insurance covers legal liabilities that can emerge from accidents that harm any third party or property of a third person. It is advisable to have this insurance and keep vehicle RC and DL suspended. 

The construction of a huge project was recently completed which is a 665-meter bridge over River Betwa that improves connectivity among Jhansi, Orchha and Tikamgarh. 

Additionally, the Union Minister also laid the foundation stone of 18 national highway projects that will rejuvenate further the road connectivity in the Bundelkhand region. 

A vehicle with registration can benefit from the following services without visiting the Jhansi RTO face-to-face: 

• Duplicate registration certificate
• Change of address in registration certificate
• Online application for fitness certificate 
• International driving licence

Strong steps are taken by the Divisional transport officer in order to ensure complete road safety in Jhansi. The campaigns are proposed to be organised in schools and public areas along with identification of black spots and unfit vehicles in the city.  

Furthermore the entire state of Uttar Pradesh has recently conducted a month long road safety campaign from January till February, 2023.
