RTO Jyotiba Phule Nagar

Jyotiba-Phule now named Amroha came into being on 24th April 1997. This city in Uttar Pradesh houses a large populace who depend upon the Jyotiba-Phule RTO for their vehicle registration, driving licence and overall traffic maintenance. This city has one RTO and its code is UP-23.

Jyotiba-Phule RTO is responsible for conducting the following functions.

• Issuing learner's licence and permanent licence 

• Issuing vehicle registration certificate

• Renew driving licence and  registration certificate

• Providing duplicate RC for vehicle, duplicate licence, hypothecation certificate

• Charging penalties against breaking traffic rules

• Reform and initiate new rules 

• Road tax collection 

• Regulation of driving schools 

• Promotion of road safety 

• Issuing motor vehicle permits

There are several types of driving licence that Jyotiba-Phule RTO provides. Here is a list of some of those. 

• Two-wheeler licence: For a vehicle with less than 50cc engine capacity 

• Light motor vehicle licence: For non-transport and commercial vehicles

• Light motor vehicle licence: For motorcycles with gear and engine capacity of more than 50cc 

• Heavy goods motor vehicle licence

• Heavy trailer licence: For people already possessing a heavy motor licence

Jyotiba-phule-nagar RTO provides two types of vehicle registration: 

1. Permanent Registration

2. Temporary Registration 

Completion of registration will provide one with a number for one’s vehicle’s number plate.

Here is a short list of various types of charges related to the registration of a vehicle in Amroha:  

• Registration charges: ₹600

• Temporary registration charges: ₹1200 - ₹1500

• FasTag charges: ₹600

• Number plate charges: ₹230 - ₹400

Amroha follows a similar system that is similar to UP road tax. The type and subtype of vehicles dictate the amount. 

• Vehicles with loading capacity below 1 ton - ₹665

• Vehicles with loading capacity above 1 ton and below 2 tons - ₹940 

• Two-wheeler costing below ₹0.20 – 2% of their price

• Two-wheeler costing over ₹0.20 lakh and up to ₹0.60 lakh – 4% of their price 

• Cars costing below ₹6.00 lakh – 3% of their price 

• Cars costing between ₹6.00 lakh and 10.00 lakh – 6% of their price

As per The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 there are serious changes done to the fines for traffic violations. Here is a short list of traffic violation fines in Jyotiba-Phule one will face if he or she does not abide by the traffic rules: 

• Over speeding: ₹1000 -2000 (light motor vehicle), ₹2000-4000 (medium weight passenger/goods vehicle)

• Usage of horn in silent zones: ₹2000 (first time), ₹4000 (second time) 

• General offence: ₹500 (first time), ₹1500 (second time)

• Overloading the vehicle: ₹20000

• Drunk driving: ₹10000 (first time), ₹15000 and imprisonment (second time)

Yes, for driving a vehicle on public roads in Jyotiba-Phule it is mandatory to have a motor insurance. ₹1000 fine and/or imprisonment up to 3 months can be the punishment for driving a vehicle without one.

A third-party insurance policy will cover legal liabilities that may arise due to involvement in any kind of accident and a third-party property or a third person is injured. Anyone who does not have this insurance is in danger of having their driving licence and even vehicle registration suspended.

According to a 12th November 2022 report, in a car accident on Delhi-Lucknow National Highway, three members of a family died when their car collided with another vehicle. 

Furthermore, a 9th February 2023 report says that, a driver by profession got injured on the highway due to a collision with a speeding bus. He was taken to Meerut hospital but died during treatment.

District Magistrate BK Tripathi along with CM Yogi Adityanath launched a statewide road safety campaign that continued from 5th January to 4th February. Here, they put an emphasis on making people aware of traffic rules and how overspeeding is responsible for a large number of accidents.
