RTO Kanshiram Nagar

On 17th April 2008, Kasganj city was renamed Kanshiram Nagar. Kanshiram Nagar is a populous city in the state of Uttar Pradesh famous for having a lot of temples and holy places. Its people depend on the local Regional Transport Office for vehicle registration and driving licences. 

Kanshiram Nagar RTO is responsible for the functions mentioned below. 

• Issuing learner's licence and permanent licence
• Renew driving licence and  registration certificate  
• Issuing vehicle registration certificate
• Promotion of road safety 
• Regulation of driving schools
• Issuing  motor vehicle permits
• Road tax collection 
• Providing duplicate RC for vehicle, duplicate licence, hypothecation certificate
• Reform and initiate new rules
• Charging penalties against breaking traffic rules 

Kanshiram Nagar RTO issues several types of driving licence. This list mentions some of those:

• Two-wheeler licence for vehicles less than 50cc engine displacement
• Light motor vehicle licence for commercial vehicles and non-transport vehicles
• Light motor vehicle licence for geared motorcycles with engine displacement over 50cc
• Heavy goods motor vehicle licence

Kanshiram Nagar RTO provides 2 types of vehicle registration:

1. Permanent Registration

2. Temporary Registration

One has to carry a soft or hard copy of the registration certificate while driving.

Kanshiram Nagar follows a system that is similar to UP road tax. It depends, among several factors, on the types and subtypes of vehicles.

• Two-wheelers pricing below ₹0.20 to above ₹2 lakh – 2% - 8% of their price
• Four-wheelers pricing between ₹6 lakh to ₹20 lakh – 3% - 9% of their price
• Commercial vehicles with load-bearing capacity below 1 ton to above 10 tons - ₹665 - ₹3320 (+ ₹470 per ton) 

The Motor Vehicles Act of 2019 came with significant changes to the fine system for traffic rules violations. Here is a short list of traffic violation fines and penalties one will face for breaking rules in Kanshiram Nagar:

• Over speeding: ₹1000 -2000 (light motor vehicle), ₹2000-4000 (medium weight passenger/goods vehicle)
• Driving without a seat belt: ₹1000
• Usage of horn in silent zones: ₹2000 (first time), ₹4000 (second time)
• Overloading the vehicle: ₹20000
• Rash driving: ₹1000 - ₹5000 and/or 6 – 12 months prison
• Driving without RC: ₹5000 (first time), ₹10000 (second time)
• Unauthorised driving: ₹1000 to ₹5000 

In Kanshiram Nagar, before taking a vehicle on public roads it is mandatory to have a motor insurance. If one does not follow that a ₹1000 fine and/or 3 months imprisonment can be the punishment.

A third-party insurance policy is there to provide cover for legal liabilities arising from accidents where a third-party property and/or a third person is harmed.

According to a 8^th January 2023 report, 6 people of the same family met with an accident, where 4 of them died on the spot and 2 were heavily injured. They were returning from Delhi and due to thick fog near Atrauli road, the car rammed into a tree off the road. 

In a recent road safety awareness campaign, the transport department made use of LED vans, distributing templates, showing films etc. to inform the public about the necessity of small things like wearing helmets and fastening seat belts to save their lives.

Furthermore, a road safety campaign addressing the rise of road accident cases in Uttar Pradesh was started by CM Yogi Adityanath on 5^th January and continued till 4^th February. This covered all localities of UP including nearby localities to Kanshiram Nagar like Mathura, Bulandshahr etc.
