RTO Rampur

Rampur was one of the princely states back in the British period. With such historical connections, this is now developing as a modern city in Uttar Pradesh. The RTO office in Rampur is situated at the heart of the city. It is known by the RTO code UP-22. The RTO in Rampur offers services like vehicle registration, driving licence, and other permit issuance etc.

RTO Rampur has the following functions:

Rampur RTO provides two types of vehicle registration:

1. Permanent Registration

2. Temporary Registration

Once your registration process is complete, you get a registration number which is displayed on your vehicle's number plate.

Rampur is one of the cities where vehicle registration charges are applicable as per UP RTO.

• Registration Charges - ₹600 for all cars
• Hypothecation Charges - ₹1500 (if the vehicle is bought on loan)
• Number Plate Charges - ₹230 to ₹400
• Parking Fee/ State Development Charges- ₹2000 (for cars that cost under ₹4 Lakhs), ₹4000 (for cars that cost above ₹4 Lakhs)
• Temporary Registration Charges - ₹1200 to ₹1500
• FasTag Charges - ₹600
• Road Tax Charges- 8% (for cars under ₹10 Lakhs), 10% (for cars above ₹10 Lakhs)

In Rampur, the RTO follows the UP road tax. As per section 3 of the Uttar Pradesh motor vehicle taxation Act 1962, every vehicle must pay road tax. This is done during their vehicle registration and continues as a yearly plan.

• For Two-wheelers: 2% to 8% of the cost of the vehicle
• For Four-wheelers: 3% to 9% of the cost of the vehicle
• For Commercial Vehicles: ₹665 to ₹3,320 depending on its loading capacity

If anyone in Rampur violates traffic rules, they will get penalised. Rampur RTO currently follows the penalties according to the new traffic fines in India.  

Here is a list of situations and the amount of fines levied if such scenarios occur. 

• Driving Without a Seatbelt- ₹1000
• Drunk Driving- ₹10,000 and/or 6 months imprisonment. This can extend to ₹15,000 and/or 2 years of imprisonment.
• Violating Speed Limits- ₹4000
• Driving Without a License- ₹5000
• Disobeying Traffic Lights-₹1,000 and ₹5,000 and/or imprisonment for 6 months. This can extend to 1 year.
• Driving a Bike Without a Helmet-  ₹500
• Using Horn in Silent Zones- ₹2000 - ₹4000

According to the Motor Vehicle Act 2019, it is mandatory to have motor insurance, which applies to all Uttar Pradesh cities. If anyone is caught without car insurance, they will get penalised. For the first offence, they must pay ₹2000 and/or imprisonment of up to 3 months. For the second offence, they must pay ₹4000 and/or imprisonment of up to-3 months.

As per the news, a recent bus accident occurred near Rampur Bypass, where a truck collided with a double-decker bus. As per a news report, the truck driver fell asleep while driving, which led to the collision. An FIR was filed against that truck driver under the relevant sections.

Since there is a visible growth in traffic on roads here, CM Yogi decided to launch a public awareness campaign. The main aim of this campaign is to prevent road accidents. Even though the numbers have decreased over time, at least 65 people die from road accidents daily.

 This would be a month-long campaign where people would learn the implementation and importance of traffic rules. The Departments of Transport and Health will also participate in this road safety campaign.
