RTO Raebareli

RTO Raebareli UP-33 is situated on the banks of the Sai river. It is under the jurisdiction of the state of Uttar Pradesh. The main responsibility of RTO Raebareli is to keep track of all the new vehicles getting registered under the RTO and to employ different traffic rules and road safety guidelines.

RTO Raebareli is involved in executing the following functions under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988. They are listed as follows:

• Ensure the effective implementation of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, and guidelines stated by the State Government.
• Issue a permanent and temporary registration number
• Renew a driving licence and registration certificate
• Check a vehicle’s mechanical parts
• Issue a vehicle fitness certificate
• Collect road taxes as implied by the RTO of Uttar Pradesh
• Issue a licence and permit for passenger vehicle permits, all-India tourist vehicle permits, and school buses etc
• Issue temporary and permanent driving licence
• Check a vehicle’s insurance cover
• Issue a PUC certificate

The different types of driving licence that Raebareli RTO issues to its citizens are:

• Non-transport purposes light motor vehicle licence
• Light motor vehicle licence for commercial purposes
• Heavy trailers vehicle licence
• Without a gear vehicle licence
• A light vehicle with a 50cc engine capacity and more
• Two-wheeler motorcycles licence with an engine capacity of 50cc and less
• Heavy goods vehicle licence
• Heavy passenger vehicle licence

Raebareli RTO provides 2 types of vehicle registration certificate: 

1. Duplicate registration

2. Permanent registration

After the error-free submission and processing of your vehicle’s registration, the RTO will give you one unique registration number. This number is thus, your vehicle’s licence plate number.

Following the latest RTO guidelines on vehicle registration charges, RTO Raebareli charges the following:

• Duplicate Trade Certificate: ₹300 - ₹500
• Temporary Registration of your vehicle: ₹1200 - ₹1500 up to 30 days
• New Registration for your Vehicle: ₹600
• Issue of Trade Certificate: ₹300 - ₹500 
• Renewal of trade certificate: ₹500 - ₹1000

Raebareli RTO falls under the jurisdiction of Uttar Pradesh (UP) RTO. Road taxes in Raibareli follow UP road tax which can be paid either annually, or even as a one-time payment. The road tax rules that apply Raebareli impose on its citizens include the following:

• For Those Driving a Two-Wheeler Vehicle: 2% to 8% of the vehicle’s cost
• For Those Driving a Four-Wheeler Vehicle: 3% to 9% of the vehicle’s cost

Traffic fines are revised all over India, according to the MV Act of 2019. Another bill passed in 2017, known as the Motor vehicle amendment bill to make traffic rules stricter, in order to reduce road accidents. You will be charged with the following types of penalty charges if you don’t abide by the traffic fines in Raebareli:

• If Your Vehicle’s Fitness Certificate Is Absent: ₹3000
• Not Wearing a Helmet While Riding: ₹1000
• Juvenile Driving (Driving Under the Age of 18 Years): Up To 3 Years Imprisonment
• Driving Without Wearing a Safety Belt: ₹1000
• In Cases of Exceeding the Speed Limit: ₹1000 To ₹10000

Yes, it is mandatory to have a motor insurance cover. This helps you protect against any costs incurred if your vehicle breaks down, or has met with an accident.

In a situation of not doing so, violating the rule can charge you a lump sum amount of money. If you commit the offence for the first time, RTO Raebareli levies a fine of ₹2000. In case of a subsequent offence, charges can go as high as ₹4000.

One of the recent accidents took place on 11 January 2023, in the early morning hours. An uncontrolled dumper accidentally ran over 10 individuals, who were sitting having tea on the Banda-Bahraich highway. It was a densely foggy morning and the accident occurred around 07:00 am. 5 people died on the spot, and one individual died at the hospital. The remaining underwent treatment. 

A road accident took place on 5 February 2023, near the police station of Raebareli. The police employed a drone to take coverage of the entire incident afterwards. A direct collision of a bolero car and a truck killed 3 people on the spot. 2 others were gravely harmed and taken to Lucknow's trauma centre for further recovery.

On 22 January 2023, a road safety awareness campaign took place under road safety week. The campaign allowed children to participate with a free spirit. Some of the activities held at the program are:

• Painting of traffic rules and regulations
• Debate competitions and speeches on road safety
